Geronimo
and the Yellow Peril.
His English Teacher, Mrs Gray,
Had flown to sunny Spain,
Which meant her shiny, yellow car,
Was on it’s own again.
So one morning after breakfast,
Geronimo went out,
He was on a special mission,
Of that please have no doubt.
When he reached the little garage,
The car was sitting there,
"I’ve come to take you for a spin,"
Smiled cheeky little bear.
"If you don’t get some exercise,
"You’re sure to get all dusty,
Not only that your driving skills,
Will get a little rusty!"
"I cannot let that happen,
So we’re going to the shops,
And on this special journey,
I’ll pull out all the stops!"
His new friend was delighted,
And gave the broadest smile,
She laughed "That sounds terrific,
I really like your style!"
"My Christian name is Valarie,"
She went on to explain,
"It really will be lovely,
To be on the road again.
The sun is shining brightly,
And the sky is blue and clear,
So get my engine going,
And let’s get out of here!"

"Hold on a bit!" laughed Teddy,
"I’ve got to sit down first,
And then, my dear you will be free,
To do your very worst!"
"Oh sorry," answered Valarie,
"That detail slipped my mind,
Now will you please stop dithering,
And park your small behind!"
"Oh stop it," laughed our furry
Friend,
"You’re making me go red,"
Then smiling very broadly,
He did just as she said!
He started the ignition,
And feeling very good,
The car then sped right down the lane,
As quickly as she could.
She whizzed around the roundabout,
At almost breakneck speed,
"These thrills and spills," she
chuckled,
"Are exactly what I need."
"Well I don’t," squeaked Geronimo,
His little face so pale,
"If a traffic warden saw you,
You’re road test you would fail!"
"Oh honestly," groaned Valarie,
"You worry far too much,
It’s nice to prove to everyone,
I haven’t lost my touch.
I’ve got to do as I am told,
In front of Mrs. Gray,
So I was rather hoping,
To have some fun today!"
"That’s fair enough," smiled little
Bear,
"But please slow down a bit,
For if we bump into a tree,
I’ll feel a proper twit!"
"Okay then," said the Yellow car,
"I’ll slow down just a little,
The last thing that I want to do,
Is make your fur go brittle!"
They picked up the teachers groceries,
And then what do you think?
They drove right through the countryside,
Which left them in the pink!
"Oh golly," giggled Teddy,
"The view from here’s just great,
And all the cows are lying down,
Although it isn’t late."
"I see windmills, I see buttercups,
And even poppies too,
This ride is quite fantastic,
I’m so glad I came with you!"
"Oh good," laughed lovely Valarie,
"I’m having fun as well,
We’re made for one another,
As far as I can tell!"
The pair continued driving,
But then to their surprise,
The sunshine started fading,
And the moon began to rise!"
Our Hero cried "Oh goodness,
We should be getting back,
It’s lucky that your garage,
Isn’t off the beaten track!"
"You’re right there," yawned the
yellow car,
"I do feel rather tired,
Although our great Adventure,
Has left me quite inspired."
"Me too," replied Geronimo,
"We must do it all again,
I ‘m glad this little run around,
Has helped to ease the strain!
He filled her up with petrol,
Then took her home once more,
"Thanks very much," she whispered,
"You’ve shown what friends are
for."
"My pleasure," Bear said softly,
"But don’t tell Mrs Gray,"
And then he went inside the house,
To put the food away!
THE END.
