While best Friend Jane was sleeping,
Quite soundly in her bed,
Geronimo was troubled,
By thoughts inside his head.
"I should get up!" he muttered,
""I've so many things to do,
And yet it will be ages,
Before the sun shines through!"

But his restless night continued,
Until at last he flipped,
And sighed "For all these traumas,"
I'm not too well equipped!"
I think the only option,
Is to go out for a walk,
And complain to all the flowers,
Because they cannot talk!"

Our Chum put on his dressing gown,
And stumbled out of bed,
"I hope this works," he murmured,
"It's time to clear my head!"
When he reached his peaceful garden,
And began to walk around,
He noticed that a pretty shrub,
Was sprouting in the ground.

Its leaves were brightly coloured,
And Bear was quite impressed,
"I wish that you could help," he groaned,
"As I am very stressed."
"The world is on my shoulders,
And I badly need advice,
But I'll just sit here and look at you,
Your colours are so nice!"

"Oh thank you!" a voice answered,
"My home is in Japan,
There's no need to look so gloomy,
As I'll help you if I can!"
Our Furry Friend was unconvinced,
He scoffed "I'm going mad,
This has to be the strangest dream,
That I have ever had!"

"Oh no it's not!" the Shrub replied,
"Because I'm real you see,
But no one ever takes the time,
To stop and talk to me.
You looked so sad this evening,
Which seemed a dreadful shame,
I thought that we could sing a song,
Or maybe have a game!"

"I'm Veronica Japonica,"
She added with a sigh,
"But now you have upset me,
An unhappy plant am I!"
"Oh no!" groaned Teddy heavily,
"I've gone and done it now,
I wanted peace and quiet,
But I've caused a massive row!"

"I'm sorry," he said meekly,
"I'd love to be your mate,
But just now I felt so tired,
That I wasn't thinking straight."
"I hope you will forgive me,
For what I have just done,
Your fruit's look very tasty,
They're as yellow as the sun!"

"Don't worry," laughed Veronica,
"You've got no need to creep,
We all make silly comments,
When we're rather short on sleep.
I think you should stop fretting,
As I plan to let you stay,
I'm certain we'll find something,
To pass the time away."

Geronimo began to laugh,
He smiled "I can't stand rows,
Now I'd like to pick those Quinces,
Which are hanging from your boughs!"
"Go right ahead," the Shrub replied,
"So proud of you I am,
My fruits are quite unusual,
But they make such tasty jam!"

"Oh do they?" asked the happy Bear,
"Then I must not delay,
I really love jam sandwiches,
And eat them every day!"
He stood up like a statue,
And then he started picking,
""I love this job," he giggled,
"My hungry lips I'm licking!"

"Go careful," warned Veronica,
"I'd hate it if you fell,
It wouldn't be a dreadful pity,
As you're getting on so well!"
"Don't worry," teased our Furry Friend,
"Because I'm almost done,
I really can't remember,
When I had so much fun!"

It wasn't very long before,
The pretty Shrub was bare,
She laughed; ""My goodness gracious,
You've got fruit enough to spare!"
"I know I have!" grinned Teddy,
"And it's all thanks to you,
But I'd better get a move on,
As the dawn is breaking through!"

"Thanks for everything," he added,
As he trotted up the path,
"I'll come back when I'm hungry,
And want to have a laugh!"
Veronica smiled broadly,
As she watched him go inside,
"At last I've found a customer,
Who's truly satisfied!"

THE END.
