Geronimo
and the Trendy Tulip.
One cold and frosty
Saturday,
Geronimo and Nan,
Went to the garden centre,
And came up with a plan.
They’d walked around for
ages,
Till Bear could stand no
more,
He grumbled “Why we’re
doing this,
I really can’t be sure.”
“The ground is very solid,
So flowers cannot grow,
That’s why it would be
sensible,
For us to turn and go!”
“Oh no,” smiled the old
woman,
“You’ve got to come with
me,
For over in the corner,
There’s something you
should see!”
Poor Teddy was still
doubtful,
But did just as she said,
Then giggled “Oh my golly,
Have you gone off your head.
I realise I’m no expert,
And I don’t wish to be
mean,
But these flowers are the
ugliest,
That I have ever seen!”
“They’ve got no leaves
upon them,
Which really isn’t done,
We ought to leave them where
they are,
And simply turn and run!”
“Oh honestly.” Nan
Chuckled,
“You’re such a silly
thing,
My garden needs some giant
bulbs,
Which flower in the
spring!”
“I hoped that you would
help me,
To put them in the ground,
They’ll look extremely
pretty,
When springtime comes
around!”
On hearing this last
statement,
Our Hero simply laughed,
And as he popped the last
bulb in,
He giggled “This is
daft!”
But when the winter ended,
And the sun came shining
through,
He found he had to eat his
words,
The way folk sometimes do.
As he walked around Nan’s
garden,
A small voice squeaked
“Come here,
I really want to thank you,
As you planted me last
year.”
Geronimo looked upwards,
And was surprised to see,
A dainty yellow flower,
Who was pretty as can be.
On seeing his expression,
She grinned from ear to ear,
And giggled “You were
doubtful,
That I would bloom last
year!”
“But now that I have
proved you wrong,
I’ll gladly beg your
pardon,
For along with all the
others,
I’m happy in this
garden.”
“My friends all call me
Tulip”
She went onto explain,
“And now we’ve got
things sorted,
I’d like to start
again!”
Bear squealed “This is
outrageous,
I don’t know what to do,
I really can’t believe it,
That from a bulb you
grew!”
“I did,” laughed Tulip
loudly,
“Your wise old Nan was
right,”
And then she started
swaying,
Which filled him with
delight!
Soon all the other flowers,
Were joining in as well,
And Teddy cried “Good
Heavens,
This dance is really
swell!”
“Oh thanks a lot,”
smiled Tulip,
“We’re glad that you
approve,
But as it’s nearly
daybreak,
I think you’d better
move!”
Our Furry Friend glanced down at
his watch,
And whispered “Gosh
you’re right,
But thanks to this display
of yours,
I’ve finally seen the
light.
I’ve realised bulbs do
magic,
From which everyone can
gain,
So the next time that I see
one,
I’ll be as right as rain!
THE END.
