Geronimo Saves Terry The Turkey.
One cold
and frosty Christmas One cold
and frosty Christmas Eve,
Geronimo
went out,
Because of
the late hour,
Few people
were about.
He thought
“If friend Jane caught me,
I’d be in
trouble deep,
But
because it’s nearly Christmas,
It’s
impossible to sleep!”
But when
he neared the garden shed,
A funny
sound he heard,
“How
very odd!” thought little Bear,
“That
sounded like a bird!”
He ran
towards the wooden door,
And opened
it up wide,
To find a
nervous Turkey,
Had found
it’s way inside!”
It was
sitting in the corner,
And in a
dreadful state,
It looked
at him and pleaded,
“You’ve
got to help me mate!”
“Why’s
that then?” asked our Furry Friend,
“You look
okay to me,
It’s
nearly Christmas morning,
And so
happy you should be!!”
The turkey
simply stared at him,
And wailed
“That’s just the point,
You see I
have been earmarked,
To be a
table joint!
I always
get so jumpy,
At this
“special” time of year,
So I
thought the only option,
Was to
hide away in here!”
“Oh you
poor thing!” grinned Teddy,
“No wonder
you’re upset,
But please
relax a little,
As we’re
not beaten yet.
I know you
shouldn’t be here,
But I like
my freedom too,
Which
makes it very easy,
To
sympathise with you!”
I’ll take
you to the nearby field,
And then
you’ll be just fine,
I will not
let you suffer,
As you’re
a mate of mine!”
“Oh thanks
a lot!” The turkey said,
“You
really are too kind,
You’re
wonderful suggestion,
Has eased
my troubled mind!”
“In case
you didn’t realise,
My
Christian name is Terry,
If I make
a dash for freedom,
Then my
Christmas will be merry.
But all
the time I’ve been in here,
I couldn’t
celebrate,
And kept
on having nightmares,
About
lining someone’s plate!”

“Come on
then,” urged Geronimo,
“We
haven’t time to waste,
It’s very
nearly morning,
So I think
we should make haste!”
Without
any hesitation,
The very
plucky bird,
Then
followed him right out the door,
And didn’t
say a word.
Then the
most unlikely twosome.
Walked
down a country lane,
“Don’t
worry,” smiled our Furry Friend,
“You’ll
soon be free again.”
In no time
whatsoever,
They’d
reached an open field,
Friend
Terry went bananas,
“I love it
here!” he squealed.
“The air
is very fresh and clean,
There’s
lots of grass to nibble,
I reckon
you should let me go,
It makes
no sense to quibble!”
“Okay,
Okay,” laughed Teddy,
“I hear
everything you say,
And hope
you will be happy,
On this
snowy Christmas day!”
“I will, I
will!” beamed Turkey,
As he
bounded out of sight,
“Thanks to
your act of kindness,
My
future’s looking bright!”
But as he
made his way back home,
Bear
laughed “The things I do,
But all
the same it’s lovely,
Making
Christmas dreams come true!”
THE END.
