Geronimo and the Terrific Truck.
Our lucky friend Geronimo,
Has got a wooden truck,
It is his prize possession,
And without it he’d be stuck.
Sitting proudly in the drivers seat,
There is a little man,
And little Teddy talks to him,
As often as he can.
Well on one fateful evening,
He took the truck to bed,
"If you got a wee bit bigger,
We could have such fun!" he said.
"I could take you for a lengthy spin,
And have a chat to Steve,
But I don’t have a passport,
To the land of make believe!"
Sighing very, very heavily,
Our Hero closed his eyes,
But after just a little while,
He woke up in surprise.
He found that he was standing,
In the most amazing land,
"Where am I?" he asked, puzzled,
"I do not understand."
"I’ve completely lost my bearings,
And that really is no good,"
But then up drove a big, red truck,
Hand carved from finest wood.
When it got a little closer,
Bear squealed "This cannot be,
I’ve been a proper plonker,
That truck belongs to me!"
"Ooh this is just amazing,
I can’t wait to get inside,
For years I have been longing,
To take it for a ride."
Feeling ever so excited,
He ran over to the truck,
However when he got there,
He ran right out of luck!
A tall blonde man was sitting,
In the drivers seat and so,
He knocked upon the window,
And said "You’ll have to go!
"In case you hadn’t realised,
This truck belongs to me,
So I would like to drive it,
All my myself you see!"
"Well tough!" replied the driver,
"I’m Steve the wooden man.,
I work for Toyland Transport,
As often as I can."
You can’t just walk straight up to me,
And say I am no good,
For I’m an expert driver,
Even though I’m made of wood"
"Apologise this minute,
And I’ll take you for a ride,
Or else I’ll have to ask you,
To simply step aside!"
"I’m sorry," sighed Geronimo,
"I got overcome that’s all,
You’ve got to make allowances,
Because I’m only small!"
"I’d really like to join you,
On this jolly little tour,
So do me a huge favour,
And open up the door."
"Hop in then," beamed Steve kindly,
"And we’ll head off down the street,
There are lots and lots of people,
That I think you ought to meet!"
When little bear was settled,
They went to get some fuel,
And he thought the wooden garage,
Was really rather cool.
In fact as he looked around him,
A wide grin crossed his face,
"My goodness!" he laughed loudly,
"What a truly marvellous place!"
"It’s got gardening tools and buckets,
And even pots of paint,
I’d like to try the pumps out,
Because they look so quaint!"
"If you did that," said the wooden
man,
"Then Tubbs would be so cross,
In case you didn’t realise,
He is the garage boss!"
As he finished off his sentence,
Tubbs came right into view,
"Oh hello mate," he bellowed,
"What can I do for you?"
"I need some fuel," Steve told him,
"Because I’m running low,
And as it’s early morning,
That is a dreadful blow."
"Come forward," grinned the Garage
boss,
"And I will put things right,
Who is this furry passenger,
Who’s eyes are shining bright!"
"I’m Geronimo" smiled Teddy,
"We’re going on a tour,
I think this place is awesome,
As I haven’t been before!"
When the truck was filled with petrol,
Tubbs sent them on their way,
"I’ll see you soon," he giggled,
"Please have a lovely day!"
"Okay then," said Steve briskly,
"Lets get on with the tour,
The wonders of this special place,
Are well worth waiting for.
As they travelled down the cobbled street,
Our Chum yelled "Goodness me,
Around every single corner,
There’s something new to see.
There’s a post office, a butchers shop,
And even a small station,
No wonder happy voices,
Are raised in celebration!"
They picked up lots of passengers,
While going on their way,
And every single one of them,
Had something nice to say.
But after just a little while,
Friend Steve grew really tired,
His eyelids started drooping,
Much faster than desired.
In no time whatsoever
He’d slumped over the wheel,
"Oh Lord!" cried our Geronimo,
"This nightmare can’t be real!"
Feeling very disconcerted,
He opened up his eyes,
And then our little Hero,
Had a rather nice surprise.
He was laying in his cosy bed,
The truck still in this paw,
"Thank goodness!" he cried happily,
"I’m back at home once more.
I thought I’d had a nasty crash,
But it was just a dream,
I’ve never been so grateful,
Things aren’t always as they seem!
THE END.
