Geronimo, the little bear,

Was going for a walk,

And suddenly our hero met,

An apple who could talk!

"Hello!" she said "I'm Annie!

I'm glad our paths have crossed,

I'll join you on your journey,

or else you will get lost!"

Bear said; "I must be dreaming!

I never thought I'd see,

A lovely juicy apple,

Who could really talk to me!"

"I'm real enough!" laughed Annie,

"To fruitland you have come,

Oh look! here comes my neighbour,

A man called Peter Plum!"

Now Peter Plum was jolly,

And just a little daft,

And when he saw Geronimo,

He laughed and laughed and laughed!

He wobbled up to Annie,

And wore a giant grin,

"Oh this is really great!" he beamed,

"A brand new specimen!"

"No silly!" giggled Annie,

"This is Geronimo,

And if you tried to eat him,

He'd be VERY cross you know!"

The Plum felt most embarrassed,

And soon began to blush,

"I'll have to wobble off!" he said,

"I'm in a dreadful rush!"

"He's barmy!" said Geronimo,

"But very, very cute,

I think I could be happy,

In the land of talking fruit!"

The two friends went on walking,

And soon they met a Pear,

"Oh look at him, he's fast asleep,

Let's leave him be." said Bear.

"It's only Paul" said Annie,

"He needs a giant shake,

He has to get some work done soon,

For everybody's sake!"

She went up to the tired Pear,

Who was so busy snoring,

And shouted; "Will you wake up Paul!

You're getting very boring!"

The poor Pear woke up with a start,

And mumbled; "Eh? What? Me?

You've ruined all my beauty sleep,

"How horrid can you be!"

And when he saw the Apple,

He sighed "I might have known!

Although I try to do my best,

At me you always moan!"

The apple gave a cough and said;

"I have to use my jaws,

Because you're always sleeping,

And never do your chores!"

Geronimo had had enough,

He shouted; "It's too bad,

If you two were to share the chores,

I would be very glad!"

So Annie Apple and Paul Pear,

Took Teddy's sound advice,

The woodland is quite peaceful now,

And everything is nice!

Geronimo went home that night,

And grinned; "What a relief,

The things that happen sometimes,

Are quite beyond belief"

THE END.
