Geronimo
Gets Stuck.
Geronimo and little Jane,
Once went to London town,
At first it seemed that nothing,
Could ever get them down.
They fed the local pigeons,
And walked right up the Mall,
"I really am enjoying this,"
Bear told his smiling pal.
"Around every single corner,
There’s something new to see,
So from this moment forward,
It’s a tourists life for me."
But when they reached the Palace,
His feet were jolly sore,
"My goodness me!" thought Teddy,
This is a dreadful bore!"
"The crowds are really massive,
And because I’m only small,
This means I am unable,
To see anything at all.
If I didn’t have Jane with me,
I’d hop back on the train,
For coping with frustration,
Is such a dreadful strain!"
But then he noticed something,
Out the corner of his eye,
"How interesting!" he murmured,
"I must give this a try."
"That rail is only tiny,
I could stick my head right through it,
It seems a bit ambitious,
But I’m certain I could do it."
"It’ll only take a minute,
And since no one’s watching me,
I think it is the ideal way,
To end my misery!"
Our silly chum got on his paws,
And then what do you think?
He jammed his head right though the rail,
And didn’t even blink!
But after half an hour,
He ran right out of luck,
For when he tried to pull it out,
He found it had got stuck!
When his friend saw what had happened,
Her face went very red,
"Oh this is unbelievable,
You silly fool!" she said.
"I thought you would be sensible,
But when I look away,
You pull a barmy stunt like this,
And mess up the whole day.
It’s bound to take a miracle,
To get you out of there,
You’ve ruined the whole afternoon,
And that just isn’t fair!"
"I know that!" winced Geronimo,
"But will you help me out?
For right now I’m in agony,
Of that please have no doubt.
I know I’ve been an idiot,
But if you don’t act quickly,
I fear I may pass out because,
I’ve never felt so sickly!"
The little girl ran forward,
Then pulled with all her might,
But in spite of all her efforts,
His small head still stuck tight!
"Will someone help?" she pleaded,
"My Teddy is in pain,
If you helped me to release him,
Then he’d be as right as rain!"

As sheer good luck would have it,
Up came a friendly Guard,
"Relax," he smiled "I’m
Gordon,"
"This job won’t be too hard."
He put some grease upon the rails,
And then eased out Bears head,
Our Furry friend was most relieved,
"That feels so good!" he said.
"I was starting to imagine,
That I’d never breathe again,
I really am so grateful,
That you helped to ease my pain!"
"Forget it," answered Gordon,
"I’m just glad you’re safe and sound,
But when you’re next in London,
You mustn’t mess around!"
"Don’t worry" said Jane firmly,
"Although he’s been so dim,
Next time we’re on an outing,
I’ll keep my eye on him!"
She smiled up at the kindly Guard,
And thanked him once again,
Then feeling so much happier,
They went to catch the train!
THE END.
