Geronimo went around to Nan’s,

And found she was in bed,

"This really is unlike you,

Whatever’s wrong?" he said.

"Don’t worry dear," came the reply,

"I’ve only got the flu,

And when I’ve rested up a bit,

I’ll be as good as new."

"Of course you will," laughed Teddy,

"Lie back and have a rest,

To help you in your time of need,

I’ll do my very best.

I’ve seen you do the housework,

Many, many times and so,

I’m sure I won’t lose anything,

By giving it a go!"

The wise old woman looked at him,

And asked him "Are you sure?

My ornaments are precious,

You might drop them on the floor!"

"Oh no I won’t," Bear answered,

"So careful I will be,

You’ve got no need to panic,

As you’re in safe paws with me!"

He fluffed up all Nan’s pillows,

And told her "Get some sleep,

I promise when I’m working,

So quiet I will keep!"

After kissing her so gently,

He went downstairs once more,

And then he worked much harder,

Than he’d ever done before.

Our Furry friend grinned broadly,

As he polished, cleaned and dusted,

And thought "I’ll prove to everyone,

That Teddies can be trusted."

He inspected all his handy work,

And chuckled "Oh I say!"

Then he took his sick Nan breakfast,

Upon a wooden tray!"

"Oh lovely!" she said happily,

"Hot toast and Marmalade,

I honestly appreciate,

The effort you have made!"

"It’s nothing!" laughed Geronimo,

"You’ve done the same for me,

I’ll get on with the rest of it,

And let you drink your tea!"

He kissed her on the forehead,

And rushed downstairs once more,

Where he made a tasty bowl of soup,

And scrubbed the kitchen floor.

Time flew by very quickly,

And at four o’clock precisely,

He grinned "I think a story,

Would go down rather nicely!"

So he grabbed his very favourite book,

And went upstairs so quickly,

Laughing "How about a story

As you’re feeling rather sickly?"

"Yes please," smiled the old woman,

"That’s such a good idea,

But to make things extra special,

Please come and sit down here."

They snuggled up together,

And Bear began to read,

"Well done," Nan told him later,

"That was very good indeed!"

"Oh well," said Teddy modestly,

"You taught me what to do,

That’s why it is a privilege,

To know someone like you!"

THE END.
