One early Sunday morning,

The sun was beating down,

So Geronimo stepped on a train,

And went to London town.

Even though it was the weekend,

Everywhere was still so busy,

And in no time whatsoever,

He was feeling very dizzy!"

"Oh bother!" groaned the little Bear,

"I cannot take much more,

If my small head keeps on spinning,

I’ll end up on the floor.

I think I’ll head right out of town,

As quickly as can be,

Because the noisy traffic,

Has proved too much for me!"

"I always thought that Sunday,

Was the day of rest and so,

I’ll leave this noise behind me,

And up the mall I’ll go!"

Sighing very, very heavily,

He quickly changed direction,

Quite sure a stroll among the trees,

Would suit him to perfection.

The Mall was quite deserted,

So this made Teddy happy,

He grinned "This is more like it,

I’m no longer feeling snappy.

It’s very, very peaceful,

And the views are lovely too,

So after such a dodgy start,

My dreams are coming true!"

"A gentle wind is blowing,

In the very leafy trees,

So it isn’t any wonder,

That I really feel at ease."

Our Hero started singing,

As he carried on his way,

But then he spied a grand old house,

And murmured "Ooh I say!"

"Although it’s very cheeky,

"I must take a look around,

I’m sure that in a place like this,

Real treasure can be found.

Then I’ll explore the gardens,

Which are pretty as can be,

I’m very, very happy,

Things have worked out well for me!"

Geronimo smiled broadly,

As he crept through the front door,

And then his eyes grew wider,

Than they’d ever done before.

"Good gracious me!" he gasped in awe,

"Look at these chandeliers,

This has to be the grandest place.

I’ve come across in years!"

"The owner has more treasures,

Than I have ever seen,

In fact this most exquisite house,

Is fit for any Queen!"

"Oh good," piped up a friendly voice,

"Things haven’t gone to waste,

It’s nice to know that someone else,

Appreciates my taste!"

"How very odd!" thought little Bear,

"I just heard someone speak,"

He glanced upwards very slightly,

Then gave a funny squeak!

An old lady stood before him,

And his paws soon turned to jelly,

"Hello," he whispered softly,

"I’ve seen you on the telly!"

"I bet you have!" came the reply,

"As I am the Queen Mother,

Why don’t we have a cup of tea,

And get to know each other?"

"I’d love to answered Teddy,

"That would really quench my thirst,

But as I’m so excited,

Let’s explore the gardens first!"

The old woman raised her eyebrows,

Then grinned "Of course you can,

You’re just like my great grandsons,

Who run rings around their Gran.

But as you’re so insistent,

Let’s follow both our noses,

In fact now you are here with me,

It’s time to prune the roses!"

She handed him a pair of snips,

And then outside they ran,

Our Hero smiled "I’ll get this done,

As quickly as I can.

"I’m sure you will" came the reply,

"But take good care my dear,

For when you use sharp implements.

Then danger’s always near!"

"Don’t worry," smiled Geronimo,

"As I will be okay,

The last thing I would want to do,

Is ruin our nice day!"

He got down on his paws and then,

Began to prune a rose,

While squealing; "How fantastic,

The smell’s gone up my nose!!"

In no time whatsoever,

The flowers looked so neat,

And his new friend smiled "Well done my dear,

Today’s worked out a treat."

She stood up tall and added,

"My goodness, gracious me,

After such a busy morning,

I’m ready for that tea!"

"Me too," puffed our Geronimo,

"We’ve earned a break I think."

And soon the pair were sipping,

The nations favourite drink.

They chatted very happily,

About their special day,

Then Bear squealed "Oh my goodness,

I should be on my way."

The sweet old lady kissed him,

And answered "What a shame,

We’ve had such fun together,

And I’m jolly glad I came!"

"Me too," smiled Teddy kindly,

"But I’ll come back when I can,

For now I’ve got to know you,

You remind me of my Nan!"

THE END.
