Geronimo Makes A Snowman.
The snow
was falling from the sky,
One day in
Mid December,
In fact it
was much colder,
Than
people could remember.
Geronimo
and Nanny,
Were snug
and warm indoors,
They were
making decorations,
With their
busy hands and paws.
They’d
already made some paper chains,
Which hung
down from the ceiling,
“I really
like this time of year!”
Said
little Bear with feeling.
“Everybody is so happy,
And
there’s lots of things to do,
I also get
to make a mess,
With
glitter, paint and glue!”

“I realise
that!” smiled Nanny,
With a
twinkle in her eye,
“You are a
mucky little pup,
And that I
can’t deny!”
“Come on
my dear,” she added,
“We’ve had
a little break,
But
there’s still one special item,
That we
really ought to make!”
“I thought
we’d make a snowman,
It’s as
simple as can be.
We could
put him in the living room,
For
everyone to see
“Oh Nan,”
smiled Teddy broadly,
“That is a
great idea,
But if we
made a snowman,
It would
surely melt in here!”
The kind
old lady chuckled,
“Don’t
treat me like a fool,
The
snowman that I’m planning,
Would be
made of cotton wool.
Then when
he is all finished,
He’ll sit
on the mantle shelf,
It’s
already pretty crowded,
So he
won’t be by himself!”
“He’ll
have to have a hat and so,
Some paper
we will need,
Will you
run upstairs this minute,
And fetch
my bag at speed?”
Our Furry
Chum just nodded,
Then did
as she had said,
But when
he came downstairs again,
His face
was ruby red.
“Good
heavens!” he puffed breathlessly,
“This big
bag weighs a ton,
But I
think when we look through it,
We’ll have
a lot of fun.”
“You’re
quite right there,” Smiled Nanny,
“Just put
it on the table,
We’ve got
to get this snowman made,
As soon as
we are able!”
As she
emptied out the massive bag,
Geronimo
gasped “Wow!
I said
that bag was heavy,
And I know
the reason now.
Inside you
have got everything,
From
cotton wool to paste,
Why even
this old scarf of mine,
Has never
gone to waste!”
“I know,”
laughed the old woman.
“Now shall
we make a start?
These
scissors are quite sharp and so,
I’ll do
the tricky part!”
When she’d
cut out all the cardboard,
Our chum
squealed in delight,
“I’m glad
that bit is over,
Now I can
turn him white!”
Then he
picked the cotton wool up,
And stuck
it everywhere,
Grinning
“Oh he looks much better now,
I’m such a
clever Bear!”
“I know
you are!” laughed Nanny,
But now he
needs a face,
Or else
inside your living room,
He’ll
never find a space!”

“Oh gosh
you’re right!” squealed Teddy,
“That
detail skipped my mind,
I got out
of bed this morning.
And left
my brains behind!”
He made
the snowman’s eyes and nose,
Then added
a black hat,
And
giggled “There you are my friend,
You look
so good in that!”

The
snowman didn’t answer,
But the
kind old woman did,
She smiled
“Some of your talents,
Are well
and truly hid!”
“Oh thank
you!” said Geronimo,
“Let’s
carry him inside,
Because
with what we’ve done today,
I’m really
satisfied.”
He put the
snowman on the shelf,
Then
hugged his Nan so tightly,
“I’m glad
you came to sort me out”,
He told
her very brightly.
“You say
that I am clever,
But it is
also true,
I’m very,
very fortunate,
To know
someone like you!”
THE END.
