Geronimo and all his friends,

Were visiting a school,

It’s pupils all had special needs,

But it was still quite cool.

When he went into the classroom,

He had a big surprise,

For the first thing that he noticed,

Was a girl with sparkly eyes.

She also had the biggest smile,

That Bear had ever seen,

So to get to know her better,

He was really, really keen.

But when he went up close to her.

And said a warm "Hello".

He didn’t get an answer,

So this left him feeling low.

"Don’t worry," smiled the Teacher,

"Little Susie cannot speak,

But she’ll still answer questions,

With her typewriter and beak!"

Cuddly Teddy was relieved by this,

"Oh thank you!" he replied,

Then he quickly grabbed a wooden seat,

And sat at Susie’s side.

"Hello again." He giggled,

"I’ve been so very thick,

But now I can discover,

Exactly how you tick!"

The little girl grinned broadly,

And then she typed "Okay,

Now kindly tell me what it is,

You want to know today!"

"How old are you?" our kind chum asked

"And do you like this place?

You must cheer up the others,

With your lovely smiling face!"

The little girl bent forward,

"You flatterer!" typed she,

"I’m eight years old this summer,

"And as happy as can be!"

"I’m really glad I came here,

Because we have such fun,

And although I’ve got my problems,

Extremely well I’ve done!"

Geronimo grinned broadly

"You sure have," he replied,

"If I couldn’t talk to people,

I’d run away and hide."

"But anyway," he added,

"Please tell me where you live,

You must explain it slowly,

As my head is like a sieve!"

Little Susie started laughing,

And then she typed "You’re mad,

My house is up the road from here,

I live with Mum and Dad."

"I’ve got two lovely sisters,

Who are full of fun like me,

And a little dog called Bonzo,

Who’s as scatty as can be!"

"At times life is sheer chaos,

But I wouldn’t change a thing.

We’ve got a massive garden,

That looks lovely in the spring."

"We play in it so often,

It even has a slide,

And lots of secret places,

Where everyone can hide."

"Well lucky you!" teased Teddy,

"It sounds ideal to me,

And sometime in the future,

I’d love to come to tea!"

"Okay then," typed the little girl,

"I think you’ve got a nerve,

But after being kind today,

"It’s something you deserve.

I’ll tell Mum you are coming,

So she can make a cake,

Topped with very yummy icing,

And a massive chocolate flake!"

"My favourite!" Bear squealed loudly,

"Oh Susie you are great,

I’m already looking forward,

To our very special date!"

The pair continued chatting.

But then they heard the bell,

"It’s such a shame!" he muttered,

"We were getting on so well!"

"Don’t look so glum!" typed Susie,

With a twinkle in her eye,

"If you simply keep on smiling,

Then time is bound to fly!"

Our Hero laughed "Okay then,"

"I won’t feel sad and blue,

You handle all life’s problems,

So I reckon I can too!"

He kissed her on the forehead,

And then went on his way,

But every time he sees her,

She still brightens up his day!

THE END.
