Our lucky friend Geronimo,

Has got a brand new pet,

He is a lop eared bunny,

Who’s as cute as he can get.

Bear loves him very dearly,

Of that there is no doubt,

But on one fateful morning,

He let the bunny out.

He raced out to the garden,

In the early morning sun,

And squealed "While Jane’s out shopping,

It’s time you had some fun.

She says I’m not to let you out,

Unless she’s standing near,

But I think I’ll overrule her,

As it must be boring here!"

"That’s right," Ben bunny answered,

With mischief in his eyes,

"The last thing I would ever do,

Is take you by surprise.

So when you let me out of here,

I’ll be as good as gold,

I’ll just lay in your furry paws,

And do as I am told!"

"Oh wonderful," smiled Teddy,

"I knew you’d act your age,"

And feeling very confident,

He then undid the cage.

However as he did this,

Ben leapt straight out of sight,

"You idiot!" he giggled,

"This really serves you right!"

"I hated it inside that cage,

So now that I am free,

I plan to make the most of it,

And won’t be home for tea!"

Our Hero was astounded,

And instantly gave chase,

"You crafty thing!" he hollered,

"You’re now in such disgrace!"

But when he got up close to him,

Ben leapt straight out of view,

And smirked "When Jane gets home tonight,

She’ll be so cross with you!

"She told you not to let me out,

So when she finds me gone,

The telling off she gives you,

Will go on and on and on!"

"Come back!" shrieked our Geronimo,

"This really isn’t funny,"

But no matter how he tried to,

He couldn’t catch the bunny.

He was running round in circles,

When the little girl came home,

And quivered "I now realise,

I was daft to let him roam."

"I know I should have listened,

To all that you have said,

But now that he’s gone missing,

I’m filled with utter dread."

"Oh honestly," his friend replied,

"You’ll be the death of me,

But I’ve got no other option,

As far as I can see!"

The friends then did a final search,

But much to their dismay,

It seemed that Ben the bunny,

Had hopped so far away!

"It’s all my fault!" wailed Teddy,

"It seems he’s gone for good,

And now I’ll pay a heavy price,

Just like he said I would!"

But when he went inside again,

And looked on the settee,

His pet was curled up in a heap,

As cosy as can be,

The small Bear was delighted,

And grinned from ear to ear,

"Oh Ben!" he squealed excitedly,

"I’m so glad you are here!"

"When first you hopped away from me,

It gave me such a fright,

But thankfully your actions,

Have helped me see the light."

He picked up the cuddly bunny,

And shouted "Guess what Jane,

I really am delighted,

As Ben’s come home again!"

His special friend came running in,

And saw that it was true,

"Fantastic," she grinned happily,

I’m very pleased for you.

The next thing that you have to do,

Is put him in his cage,

Then hopefully in future,

You’ll learn to act your age!"

"Don’t worry," giggled Teddy,

"I won’t be daft again,

And I promise that in future,

I’ll take good care of Ben!"

Then he put the sleepy Bunny,

Back in his cage once more,

And very, very carefully,

He locked the metal door.

"Goodnight my friend," he whispered,

"You’ve had a jolly jape,

Now even on a sunny day,

This cage you can’t escape!"

THE END.
