Geronimo Meets Olga
the Ostrich.
One morning our Geronimo,
Was strolling though the town,
And getting all the items,
That Jane had written down.
Things were going pretty nicely,
Then he left the Grocers shop,
And noticed that the traffic,
Had come to a sudden stop.
"Oh bother!" Grumbled Teddy,
"I’ve still more things to buy,
But the fates have turned against me,
Convinced of that am I"
Then as he looked around him,
A crowd had gathered too,
And everybody in it,
Was unsure of what to do.
"What’s wrong with them?" he
wondered,
"Why don’t they move along?"
But when he went to join them,
Bear discovered what was wrong.
Pacing up and down the high street,
Was an Ostrich oh so large,
There was no doubt whatsoever,
That she had taken charge.

"Don’t touch me," she was gobbling,
"My Christian name is Olga,
I’ve run away from all the pigs,
Because I think they’re vulgar!"
"In case you hadn’t noticed,
I’m so happy to be free.
So no-one stands the slightest chance,
Of every catching me!"
As she waddled up the high street,
She knocked over every stall,
"Oh golly!" groaned Geronimo,
"This isn’t fair at all!"
"I know I’m only tiny,
But I’ll go and have a word,
For utter havoc’s being wreaked,
By this outrageous bird!"
He walked straight up to Olga,
And snapped "Look what you’ve done!
You’ve caused no end of chaos,
And frightened everyone.
You might think it’s amusing,
But these antics have to stop,
If you don’t slow down this minute,
Then I will blow my top!"
But the Ostrich didn’t listen,
She gave a cheeky grin,
And laughed "This is one battle,
That you will never win."
She then winked at little Teddy,
Then darted up the road,
Laughing "Watch out everybody,
I’m in hyperactive mode!"
Bear started running after her,
But much too fast was she.
He yelled "Come back you naughty girl,
You’ll be the death of me!"
The other shoppers giggled,
And this made him so irate,
He cried "I need a helping hand,
Before it is too late!"
"Will someone do the decent thing,
And phone my neighbour James,
He’s an animal inspector,
Who’ll stop her fun and games!"
A very kindly passer by,
Made the important call,
He said "There’s mayhem in the town,
Which isn’t good at all!"
"I’m sorry to disturb you,
But I’ve got a good excuse,
A very naughty ostrich,
Is now out on the loose!
She told us she was quite fed up,
With life down on the farm,
But you really need to catch her,
Before someone comes to harm!"
"Don’t worry," Friend James
answered,
"I’ve got a cunning plan,
We need to sort this mess out,
As quickly as we can!"
"Oh thank you!" said the passer by,
"We can’t handle this alone,"
And he went to join the others,
After putting down the phone.
"It’s alright," he assured them,
"The inspector’s on his way,
I really am quite confident,
That he will save the day!"
"Thank goodness!" cried Geronimo,
"This bird is quite insane,
She even tried to put a beak,
Though someone’s window pane!"
"I tried my best to catch her,
But she just ran further still,
And all this needless worry,
Is making me feel ill!"
However in a little while,
James turned up with a net,
"Good luck mate!" whispered little
Bear,
"She’s playing hard to get!"
"Oh that’s okay," his friend
replied,
"Now everyone stand back,
When it comes to catching ostriches,
I’ve really got the knack!"
He put his summer jacket,
Over Olga’s nodding head,
"Now this is much more like it,
We’ve calmed her down!" he said.
Then he guided her so gently,
Into his great big van,
And smiled "I’ll get her home again,
As quickly as I can."
"Oh goodness!" squealed our furry
Chum,
"That rescue was just ace,
Now all my cares and worries,
Has vanished into space!"
"It’s just my job," James answered,
before driving down the street,
"But I’m glad my intervention,
Has made the day complete"
"Oh what a day!" thought Teddy,
As he disappeared from sight,
"But one thing is for certain,
I’ll sleep jolly well tonight!"
THE END.
