Geronimo, the little Bear,

Was feeling sad and glum,

"Go out into the big wide world,"

He'd been told by his Mum.

"You know I'll always love you,

And you're special as can be,

But there's another person,

Who needs you more than me!"

Bear packed his tiny suitcase,

And said a fond "Good-bye",

To find this mystery person,

He knew he had to try.

At first he saw a farmhouse,

But there simply was no place,

For a most downhearted Teddy,

With a frown upon his face!

The Animals would fight him,

And the Farmer's girls and boys,

Would be too busy playing,

With more exciting toys!

He didn't want to live with them,

Of that he was quite sure,

And so our little hero,

Went on the road once more!

Quite soon he saw an empty shop,

(At least it looked that way,)

Bear thought: "Oh what a splendid place,

For someone small to stay!"

The cheeky little Teddy,

Hid on the topmost shelf,

He smiled and said "Oh yummy,

All those chocolates to myself!"

Our friend was quite mistaken,

He'd nibbled just one sweet,

When there came from out of nowhere,

The sound of someone's feet!

He forgot about his tummy,

And darted out so quickly,

As suddenly the thought of food,

Had made him feel quite sickly!

Once more upon the open road,

Bear rubbed his little paw,

And thought "Good golly I will hide,

In Sweetie shops no more!"

His feet began to get quite sore,

But still he walked for hours,

He missed his Mummy VERY much,

And all the woodland flowers!

At last he saw in front of him,

A neat and tidy house,

So little Teddy crept inside,

As quiet as a mouse!

He thought no one had seen him,

But he was very wrong,

Because a lonely girl called Jane,

Had been there all along!

She'd been sitting there for hours,

When Bear first came in sight,

And cried; "Oh what a funny thing,

To happen in the night!"

"It's nice to see a friendly face,

(Though not a human one,)

You must come in for tea and cakes,

I'm sure we'd have great fun!"

Geronimo the little Bear,

Had curled up in a heap,

But said "I always like a drink,

Before I go to sleep."

"It's really nice to meet you,

But why are you alone,

A pretty little girl like you,

Should not be on your own."

Poor Jane just knelt beside him,

And wiped away a tear,

She sobbed; "I used to have a friend

Who was so very dear."

"We shared this house together,

And were happy as could be,

But ever since he went away,

I miss his company."

The little Bear was quiet,

Then he had a grand idea,

He said; "You'd feel much better,

If I was living here!"

"I'm very sad about your friend,

And cannot take his place,

But I'll try very hard to put,

A smile back on your face!"

"I'm very good at making beds,

And cooking nice meals too,

But most importantly of all,

I could look after you!"

Then little Jane stopped crying,

And gave the Bear a smile,

She said; "Please come and stay with me,

For such a long, long while!"

The friends have lived together,

From that special day to this,

And every night she gives her Bear,

A loving, goodnight kiss.

She looks into his eyes and says;

"My dear Geronimo,

You are the sweetest Teddy,

In all the world you know!"

THE END.
