While Jane was busy working,

Geronimo the Bear,

Was sitting in the living room,

With too much time to spare.

"Oh I’m so bored!!" he muttered,

"I think I’ll lose my mind,

I’ll just rummage through the cabinet,

To see what I can find!"

With renewed determination,

Our Chum got on the floor,

And before you could say "Nosey,"

He was looking through a draw,

"Amazing," he grinned happily,

"I’ve found an orange smartie,

And so it seems the time has come,

To have a private party!!"

But when he put it in his mouth,

The "Sweet" was hard to swallow,

"What’s happening?" gasped Teddy,

"Is really hard to follow."

As he finished off his sentence,

He had a coughing fit,

And spluttered "Come and help me Jane,

I don’t like this one bit!"

The little girl heard all the noise,

So she came running in,

"What have you done?" she shouted,

"Why is there all this din?"

But then she saw the sewing box,

And things became quite clear,

She cried "You haven’t taken,

A button out of here?"

Geronimo went very red,

"Well yes I did," wailed he,

"But now I’m in a dreadful fix,

So please don’t shout at me."

"You see, when I first saw it,

I thought it was a smartie,

So I could not resist the chance,

To have a little party!"

Jane hugged him very tightly,

And told him "You’ll be fine,

We’re going to the hospital,

To see a friend of mine"

The little bear was doubtful,

But before he could protest,

She said "We’ve got to hurry,

This will all be for the best!"

When they reached their destination,

A nurse was standing by,

Jane puffed "Oh hello Jenny,

To help us you must try.

In case you didn’t realise,

This is Geronimo,

He tried to eat a button,

And has reached an all time low."

"I flew into a panic,

And began to scream and shout,

But now things are getting urgent,

So I hope you’ll get it out!"

Kind Jenny looked at Teddy,

And she smiled "Of course I will,

Because this handsome fellow,

Is too nice to be ill!"

"Now come with me," she added,

"And I’ll take your photograph,

I know that you are nervous,

But we’re sure to have a laugh!"

She led them to a tiny room,

And then smiled "Hop up there,

Thus will only take a minute,

As you’re such a tiny Bear!"

Our Hero was still doubtful,

But he did just as he said,

Then he noticed that a camera,

Was just above his head.

"Good gracious me!" he chuckled,

"This really is quite cool,

I’m bound to be the envy,

Of all my mates at school!"

"Of course you will," smiled Jenny,

"I’ll just go behind the screen,

And take the greatest pictures,

That you have ever seen!"

"Lie very still," she added,

Before she took her leave,

"And as soon as I am ready,

I’ll be asking you to breathe!

"Okay" replied Geronimo,

"But do keep talking please,

I need some entertainment,

At tricky times like these!"

"Don’t worry," said the kindly nurse,

"We’ll carry on our chat,

I’ll be back in just a minute,

I promise you of that!"

She went behind the massive screen,

As quickly as she could,

While little bear lay very still,

Just like he said he would.

Before he even knew it,

The photographs were done,

They could see the orange button,

Which was such a tiny one!

"Good Heavens!" squealed Our Furry Chum,

"It looks so very small,

I find it quite amazing,

That it bothered me at all!"

"Me too," grinned Jenny laughing,

"But you’ve been a proper star,

And soon you’ll lose the button,

Which has troubled you so far!"

"Oh will I?" answered Teddy,

"That’s very nice to know,

Thinking of an operation,

Was making me feel low."

"Don’t worry," smiled the kindly nurse,

"Because you’re quite okay,"

So her patient headed homewards,

A singing all the way!

THE END.
