While staying with Aunt Estrid,

In the summer holidays,

Geronimo enjoyed himself,

In many different ways.

He picked apples in the orchard,

And climbed a lot of trees,

While grinning "How fantastic,

I really feel at ease!"

One starry night however,

He couldn’t get to sleep,

And murmured "This is dreadful,

My patience I can’t keep.

I’m only very little,

So I need a lot of rest,

But it’s proving quite illusive,

Although I’ve tried my best."

The sleepy bear rolled over,

Then closed his tired eyes,

But a cheeky barn owl hooted,

Which took him by surprise!

"For heavens sake!" he shouted,

"Will no one beg my pardon,

I’d better grab my dressing gown,

And go out in the garden!"

Our Furry Friend sighed heavily,

And then got out of bed,

Quite hopeful that a late night stroll,

Would clear his troubled head.

When he reached his destination,

He couldn’t help but laugh,

Because right there before him,

Was a very crooked path.

"How curious!" he giggled,

"I’ve not seen that before,

Exactly where it leads to,

I really can’t be sure.

I think I’d better follow it,

And see what I can find,

Because all sorts of questions,

Are running through my mind!"

But as Teddy finished speaking,

He gasped in sheer dismay,

Some pretty fairy lights came on,

To guide him on his way!

"My goodness me!" he chuckled

"It seems I’m not alone,

But if someone is guiding me,

I can’t afford to moan!"

He wandered up the crooked path,

And then a voice cried "Boo,

I live up in this tree house,

Where there’s always lots to do."

Geronimo glanced upwards,

And spied a cheeky fairy,

Who smiled at him politely,

And said "My name is Mary!"

"I like to cause some mischief,

When the grown ups aren’t around,

But thought some fairy lighting,

Would keep you safe and sound!"

"You did this?" squealed the little Bear,

"Ooh you must be so clever,

The image of this lovely place,

Will stay with me forever!"

"Oh thanks a lot!" grinned Mary,

"I own the Magic path,

And sometimes in the dead of night,

I like to have a laugh.

I live here with my sister,

Whose name is Laura Kate,

I think you ought to meet her,

As she’s absolutely great!"

She gave a little whistle,

And floating down the tree,

There came another fairy,

Who was pretty as can be!

"Hi Laura!" giggled Mary,

"This is Geronimo,

I thought we’d entertain him,

By putting on a show!"

"Oh wonderful," her sister smiled,

"I hope that he can sing,

Let’s get our act together,

And form a tiny ring!"

In the twinkling of an eyelid,

They were dancing round and round,

And from our Hero’s voice box,

Came the most amazing sound!

"My goodness me!" he chuckled,

"A miracle’s occurred,

I usually have the dullest voice,

That you have ever heard!"

"That’s magic" answered Mary,

"It never let’s you down,

There’s really nothing nicer,

Than acting like a clown!"

The friends continued dancing,

And having lots of fun,

Then when they least expected it,

Up came the morning sun.

"Oh golly!" cried Geronimo,

"I think I’d better leave,

This really is annoying,

As I’ve more tricks up my sleeve!"

He kissed his playmates gently,

And then bounded out of sight,

While whispering "I’m grateful,

For the most amazing night!"

"Don’t worry," squeaked the fairies,

"You’ve seen the magic path,

So you can come up here again,

Next time you need a laugh!"

THE END.
