Geronimo and the Magic Herbs
One
morning when the weather,
Was
very, very hot,
Geronimo went walking,
And a
BIG surprise he got.
He
wandered through the meadow,
To
while away the hours,
But
ugly weeds were growing there,
Instead
of pretty flowers!
"How
very odd," thought Teddy,
I don't
think I will stay,
I need
a splash of colour,
To
brighten up my day."
"Oh
don't do that," cried out a voice,
I know
I don't look pretty,
But to
miss my sweet aroma,
Would
still be quite a pity!"
"What's
that?" Our Hero wondered,
"There
are no humans here,
So my
imagination,
Is in
overdrive I fear!"
"It's
not," Called out the voice again,
"My
Christian name is Parsley,
I'm
standing just beneath your feet,
And
feeling pretty gAnd
feeling pretty ghastly!"
"I'm
scared that you will tread on me,
And all
my friends as well,
Your
intentions aren't too honourable,
As far
as I can tell!"
Geronimo got on his knees,
And saw
that it was true,
A pure,
green herb was standing tall,
And he
was nervous too!
"Don't
worry," smiled our Furry Chum,
"I'm
only small myself,
The
last thing that I'd want to do,
Is jeopardise your health!"
"I'd
love to sniff your lovely leaves,
If you
would be so kind,
So
please stop all that worrying,
And let
yourself unwind!"
"Oh
sorry," answered Parsley,
"Come
here and have a sniff.
It's
just when feet get close to me,
I
always get scared stiff!"
So
Teddy leaned much closer,
And the
scent went up his nose,
He
sighed "It's so relaxing,
It
makes me want to doze."
"Don't
nod off yet," his new friend laughed,
"Please
meet some friends of mine,
Two
very lovely ladies,
Called
Rosemary and Thyme.
They
live on either side of me,
And are
ever so good looking,
They're
also rather tasty,
Which
is why they're used in cooking."
As if
on cue the girls woke up,
They
asked; "Did someone call?
They've
disturbed our Sunday lie in,
And
that wasn't fair at all!"
"It's
only me," laughed Parsley,
"This
is Geronimo,
I told
him you were ladylike,
Don't
prove it isn't so!"
"Oh
sorry," giggled Rosemary,
"What a
cute and cuddly Teddy,
Please
come and smell my gorgeous scent,
As soon
as you are ready!"
"She
perks up your Roast Lamb," grinned Thyme,
"And
gives it much more flavour,
The
aromas in this meadow,
Are
something you should savour!"
"I know
that," smiled the happy Bear,
"I
think you're all amazing,
An
early morning walkabout,
Is much
more fun than lazing!"
He
sniffed the two herbs gently,
And
murmured; "You're so sweet,
No
wonder all those humans,
Say
you're good enough to eat!"
"Oh
thank you!" smiled the flattered Herbs,
"You're
very, very kind,
It's
lovely to meet someone,
Whose
tastes are so refined!"
"Stop
creeping," laughed another voice,
"It's
me who's all the rage,
I often
go with onion,
And my
friends all call me Sage!"
"The
girls think I am common,
Because
I'm used a lot,
They
just do not appreciate,
The
cracking taste I've got!"
"Hello
there," smiled Geronimo,
"I've
heard of you before,
Jane
eats you every Sunday,
And you
leave her wanting more!"
"I'm
feeling rather rotten,
As I
didn't see you there,
But I
hope you will forgive me,
As I'm
just a little Bear."
"No
problem," said Sage kindly,
I'm an
ordinary bloke,
Unlike
my snooty neighbours,
Who
cannot take a joke!"
"Oh
sorry," blushed the fighting Herbs,
"We are
the best of chums,
But
like most human beings,
We
sometimes get the glums!"
"That's
quite okay," laughed Teddy,
"I
bicker sometimes too,
And I
have had a giggle,
While
listening to you."
"I've
got to go," he added,
"It's
time for Sunday lunch,
I think
we've got roast lamb today,
And
carrots on the bunch!"
"Goodbye then!" called his new found friends,
"Today
has been a treat,
Please
spare a little thought for us,
When
sitting down to eat!"
THE END.
