Geronimo and the Lost Cat.
Geronimo has got a cat,
Who’s precious as can be,
She curls up in a little ball,
And sits upon his knee.
One cold and frosty morning,
Hr found Winnie wasn’t there,
So as you can imagine,
He fell into despair.
He called her name out loudly,
But there was no reply,
"Where can she be?" he wondered,
"A worried Bear am I."
"I hope she’s not in danger,
As she’s only very small,
Although I am an optimist,
I don’t like this at all!"
The frightened Teddy searched the house,
But all his hopes fell flat,
He sighed "I cannot let this rest,
I’m very sure of that.
I’ll put my warmest coat on,
And then I’ll search the streets,
It also might be rather wise,
To take some tasty treats!"
"If she hears the big tin rattle,
She might come home to me,
And when she’s safe and sound again,
So happy I will be!"
Our Chum got dressed in seconds,
And then the big search started,
But when his pet could not be found,
He quickly grew downhearted.
He shook the tin for ages,
And then paced up and down,
"I wish you would come home to me,"
He murmured with a frown.
"The weather out here’s freezing,
So you must be cold as ice,
And for someone small and furry,
That can’t be very nice."
When at last the clock struck midnight,
Geronimo gave in,
He thought "I’d better go to bed,
Because I cannot win."
However when he did this,
His worries multiplied,
He kept on hearing noises,
And tossed from side to side.
By the time it got to daybreak,
Poor Bear could rest no more,
He thought "I must resume my search,
As that’s what friends are for."
He went into the living room,
But the cat still wasn’t there,
So worried Teddy left the house,
Still locked in deep despair!
He wandered down the garden path,
His little head bowed low,
While sighing "How I’ll sort this out,
I’ll never, ever know.
After eighteen months of friendship,
It seems I’ve lost my pet,
And since I love her dearly,
That’s something I’ll regret."
But when he neared the garage,
He heard a loud meow,
"Ah ha!" grinned Teddy smugly,
"I think I’ve cracked it now."
He opened up the massive door,
And shouted "Fancy that,"
For laying in the corner,
There was his shaking cat!

"Thank goodness!" she meowed loudly,
"I’ve been stuck here all night,
Why has it taken you so long,
To come and put things right!"
"Oh Winnie," cried Geronimo,
"I’ve been searching all around,
You don’t know how relieved I am,
To know you’re safe and sound!"
He picked his pet up gently,
And stroked her freezing fur,
And when they went inside the house,
She gave the biggest purr.
"Oh wonderful," she murmured,
"It’s nice and cosy here.
That garage was extremely cold,
I’ve never felt such fear."
"It’s over now," Bear answered,
"And as a special treat,
I thought that I would give you,
Your favourite things to eat!"
"Oh thanks a lot," mewed Winnie,
"You are too good to me"
And she gobbled up her breakfast,
As quickly as could be!
As soon as she had had enough,
She curled up by the fire,
And then she nodded off to sleep,
As was her hearts desire.
"Thank goodness," whispered Teddy,
"My friend is safe once more,"
And ever since that incident,
He checks the garage door!
THE END.
