Geronimo and the Lost Boy.
As he walked around the precinct,
One busy Saturday,
Geronimo was thinking,
"I must hurry on my way."
"This afternoon my Nanny,
Is coming for her tea,
So I’ll have to get her favourite food,
As quickly as can be!"
Our furry friend began to run,
Towards the butchers shop,
Then he noticed someone crying,
And felt he had to stop.
A little boy of five years old,
Was sucking his left thumb,
And wailing very loudly,
"I’ve gone and lost my Mum!"
"I know that boy," thought Teddy,
"He’s Jason from my class,
So although I’m very busy,
I cannot let this pass!"
He hurried over to his mate,
And smiled "Please don’t be sad,
Because as it so happens,
A great idea I’ve had!"

"We’ll find your Mum," he added,
"But first, please come with me,
Because there’s an important man,
I think we ought to see."
"Don’t worry though," he added,
"As things will work out fine,
No harm will ever come to you,
As you’re a friend of mine!"
He took the small boy by the hand,
And on their way they went,
To sort this dreadful mess out,
Was clearly Bear’s intent.
In time they met a friendly man,
Who seemed to know him well,
And asked him "What’s the problem,
I wish that you would tell."
"Well Eric," smiled Geronimo,
"Poor Jason’s lost his mum,
So both of us were hoping,
That to his aid you’d come."
"Of course I will," came the reply,
"Will you come with me now?
Then I will sort this problem out,
As only I know how!"
The guard then led them quietly,
Into a little room,
Our Hero smiled "Well there you go,
It’s not all doom and gloom."
As they sat there eating biscuits,
And drinking cups of tea,
He added "Now you’re calmer,
Will you take a tip from me?"
"Of course I will," said Jason,
"We’re great pals after all,
And you came to my rescue,
When I was feeling small."
Bear smiled "Next time you’re shopping,
Keep hold of your Mum’s hand,
And then you can be certain,
Things will work out as you planned."
"Some folk may think it’s girly,
But ignore the things they say,
For when you’re in a place like this,
It is the safest way."
"I know that now," replied his
friend,
"And with you I agree,
When we come into town next week,
More careful I will be!"
The pair continued chatting,
Then the door burst open wide,
Jason’s Mum came running through it,
"Oh there you are!" she cried.
"I’m sorry," wailed her little boy,
"I’ve acted like a fool,
But next time we’re out shopping,
I plan to keep my cool!"
But his Mum just hugged him tightly,
"Oh never mind," smiled she,
"For I’m just glad you’re safe and
sound,
Like everyone should be."
She turned towards Our Furry Chum,
And then she hugged him too,
"Oh thank you very much" she beamed,
"I’m glad this nightmare’s
through!"
"Hey steady on!" laughed little Bear,
"You’re almost squashing me,
I’m just glad this misadventure,
Has worked out perfectly."
"I’d love to stay," he added,
"But there’s no time for stopping,
I’ve got to leave the two of you,
And finish off the shopping!"
But before he made his exit,
He quickly turned around,
And said "You must remember,
To stay quite safe and sound."
"Don’t worry," answered Jason,
"I’ve learned a lot today,"
And since that fateful morning,
He’s never gone astray!
THE END.
