Geronimo
and the Ill Wind.
At half past five one morning,
Geronimo awoke,
"Oh what a noise!" he muttered,
"This is beyond a joke.
I’m finding it impossible,
To go to sleep again,
For right outside my window,
There’s a dreadful hurricane."
He tried to snuggle down again,
And close his eyes once more,
But then there was a rattle,
Right underneath the door.
"For heavens sake!" cried Teddy,
As he got out of his bed,
"The cold winds non-stop howling,
Is filling me with dread!"

He went over to the window,
And looked out at the trees,
And to his utter horror,
They were swaying in the breeze.
"Oh golly," he yelled loudly,
"I’m certain they will fall,
The fence is also wobbling,
And I don’t like this at all!"
"I think I need some guidance,
From my very good friend Jane,
For while all this is going on,
I will not sleep again!"
"It’s okay," said a sudden voice,
"I’m already wide awake,
There’s no need to be worried,
And a breather you should take!"
"How can I?" squealed the little
Bear,
"The fence is almost falling,
And in case you hadn’t noticed,
Conditions are appalling.
If we don’t take some action,
It’ll end up on the ground,
And we will have no barrier,
To keep us safe and sound!"
"I’m afraid that isn’t possible,"
The little girl replied,
"For as you pointed out to me,
It’s freezing cold outside.
So do yourself a favour,
And come downstairs with me,
We can have a little cuddle,
And I’ll make a cup of tea!"
"Okay then," smiled our Furry Chum,
"I’ll take a tip from you,
I’d love to have a cuppa,
As I’ve nothing else to do!"
In no time whatsoever,
They were snuggled up together,
"This is the ideal way," he grinned,
"To cope with stormy weather!"
"You’re telling me!" Jane chuckled,
"At least we’re warm in here,"
But suddenly the lights went out,
And made them jump in fear!
Geronimo gasped "Golly,
Why has it gone all dark?
It seems our mystery prankster,
Is having quite a lark!"
"It’s power cut," came the reply,
"I’ll go and get a candle,
My camping stove is working,
So there’s nothing we can’t handle!"
"That’s just as well!" teased
Teddy,
"Things keep on going wrong,
For once I’m glad that you are here,
To chivvy me along!"
They had a fun filled morning,
Cooking dinner on the stove,
"I like that flame," he giggled,
"It’s a lovely shade of mauve!"
"That may be so," replied his friend,
"But please don’t go too near,
For if you were to burn yourself,
We’d have more problems here!"
The little bear sighed heavily,
"Who do you think I am?
The last thing I would ever do,
Is pull another scam!
I plan to lay the table,
And then settle down to eat,
For although the weather’s iffy,
Things are working out a treat."
"Oh sorry," said the kindly girl,
"You’re absolutely right,
But like every other parent,
I worry day and night!"
They ate a very hearty meal,
And then what do you think?
The gale force winds soon faded,
Which left them tickled pink!
Geronimo leapt off his chair,
And then he squealed "Hooray,
It seems that someone somewhere,
Has heard my moans today.
Now I can use my muscles,
Instead of common sense,"
And then he rushed outside again,
To resurrect the fence!
"Thank goodness!" friend Jane
giggled,
"Some things never ever change,
And without his crazy antics,
Then life would be so strange!"
THE END.
