Geronimo, the little bear,

Was sitting on a train,

He was going off to Scotland,

With his very good friend Jane.

Our hero was excited,

As he'd not been there before,

He had a tartan kilt on,

And some heather in his paw!

Jane had an Auntie Winnie,

Who lived up in the glen,

She was very, very friendly,

And called everybody "Hen!"

Her husband was a clever man,

Whose Christian name was Bill,

The little girl told Teddy,

That he had a special skill!

She said there were some bagpipes,

The old man loved to play,

Geronimo thought; "Goodness!

What a funny thing to say!"

When they reached Aunt Winnie's cottage,

Teddy saw that it was true,

Uncle Bill was playing music,

A clever thing to do!

Geronimo thought; "Golly!

He uses lots of breath!"

Then Auntie Winnie called; "Come in!

Or else ye'll catch tha' death!"

The little Bear thought she was odd,

But as he felt quite cold,

He left Bill in the garden,

And did as he was told!

Aunt Winnie had prepared for them,

A special pot of Broth,

And over on the table,

Was her very favourite cloth!

She said to Jane; "Yev'e grown so much!

To see ye're is just great,

To take ye're on a Haggis Hunt,

I simply can'ee wait!"

Bear hadn't seen a haggis,

And asked; "What can it be?"

His Auntie Winnie laughed and said,

"Ye'll have Ti wait and see!"

Next morning bright and early,

The Haggis Hunt began,

Geronimo said; "Auntie!

I will find one if I can!"

His Aunt then hugged him tightly,

And replied; "Let's go together,

It really has been ages,

Since I had a darn good blather!"

They walked into the countryside,

And saw many people there,

"What DOES a Haggis look like?"

Asked puzzled little Bear.

His Auntie smiled; "Och now wee lad,

The're tasty and the're brown,

I know that you can catch one,

And ye' won"t let me down!"

Geronimo walked further,

But no Haggis was in sight,

Then he came across an object,

And our friend jumped back in fright!

The object was peculiar,

It lay upon the ground,

Bear called out; "Auntie Winnie!

A Teddy trap I've found!"

Aunt Winnie came up closely,

And she laughed and laughed and laughed,

She said; "Ye've found a Haggis,

Now Dinna be sa' daft!"

He found a few more after that,

And so did Bill and Jane,

They had a really lovely tea,

When they went home again!

And after they had eaten,

Bill had a drink of Whisky,

He said; "I love to have a dram,

It makes me feel quite frisky!"

The Bear said; "Can I try some?"

But his Aunt replied; "Och no!

It's Highland games tomorrow,

So off to bed ye go!"

Next morning bright and early,

They headed for the field,

Where lots of big surprises,

Were soon to be revealed!

The old man saw a tree trunk,

And he tossed it in the air,

"Whatever is he doing?"

Asked startled little Bear.

Jane kissed him very gently,

And said "Don't worry Dear,

It's called tossing the caber,

They like to do that here!"

When the caber toss was over,

There was a tug of war,

And Uncle Bill called; "Teddy!

We need your strongest paw!"

Geronimo thought; "Golly!

I'm having a great dream!"

But before you could say "Highland",

He was playing in the team!

They all felt jolly tired,

By the time the game was up,

And little Bear was given,

A shining silver cup!

He turned to everybody,

And said; "Thank you everyone!

I really think this afternoon,

Has been a lot of fun!"

That evening back at Winnie's house,

Jane hugged her favourite toy,

And said "I love you lots and lots,

My clever little boy!

Next morning all the family,

Were fishing by the lake,

And kindly Auntie Winnie,

A picnic lunch did make!

Geronimo felt happy,

And the trip was a success,

He even talked to Nessie,

The Monster from Loch Ness!

His line was in the water,

And a voice called; "Dont touch me!"

Our furry friend was most surprised,

As anyone would be!

He thought "Oh this is VERY strange!

Much worse than I had feared!"

And then a lady monster,

Quite suddenly appeared!

She smiled and said; "Och now wee lad!

It's very nice ta' see,

A handsome lookin' Teddy,

Who is'nee scared o' me!"

She added; "My name's Nessie,

Folk think I don't exist,

I get so very lonely here,

It drives me round tha' twist!"

The monster was so pretty,

But she looked so very sad,

Bear said; "Oh please don't worry,

A great idea I've had!"

He told her; "I've some sandwiches,

That I'd like you to share,

And I'd like to introduce you,

To my family over there!"

They had a lovely dinner,

And talked to everyone,

Then Nessie thanked Geronimo,

For all that he had done.

She said; "I hope it isn't long,

before you come again,

Please bring your Auntie Winnie,

And your very good friend Jane!"

The little bear smiled broadly,

And he looked up at the sky,

Then to the pretty monster,

He said a fond good-bye!

The next day was a sad one,

Jane told her furry friend,

"I'll have to do some packing,

As our stay has reached an end!"

Geronimo was most upset,

He didn't want to go,

But his Aunt said; "Dinna worry!

Ye're can come again ye know!"

The Teddy felt much better,

And replied; "That's very true"

And with a grin he added;

"Ye're great, och aye tha' noo!"

THE END.
