Geronimo and the Hedgehog
One night when he was fast asleep,
Geronimo the Bear,
Was woken by a scratching sound,
And wondered who was there.
"It cant be in the house!" he thought,
"I locked the doors tonight,
I'll have to check the garden,
To see if that's all right!"
Clad in his bright blue dressing gown,
Bear went to look around,
He crouched down on his tiny paws,
And didnt make a sound!
The scratching got much louder,
And then there was a scuttle,
The Teddy thought some aliens,
Had come down in a shuttle!

"Hello, who's there?" he whispered,
"I don't wish to be rude,
But I was busy sleeping,
And now I'm in a mood!"
There was a little whimper,
Within the green, green grass,
Our furry friend was tired,
But he couldn't let it pass!
"I mean no harm!" he whispered,
"Please tell me where you are,
For in the darkness of the night,
You won't get very far!"
He stretched a paw out gently,
Which was no help at all,
Because the little "alien"
Had rolled up in a ball!
"Oh curses!" thought Geronimo,
"I nearly had him then,
"I'll hold him in my hand and so,
He cannot stray again!"
He picked the little ball up,
And got a big surprise,
Because a lovely hedgehog,
Was there before his eyes!
"Hello," it said "I'm Harry,
And I am in a state,
Because I haven't eaten,
Since twenty five past eight!"
"I've had a long, long journey,
And now I feel quite sickly,
Be careful how you handle me,
Because I can be prickly!"
Geronimo was quite unnerved,
He said; "I think you're sweet,
So I will fetch some ice cold milk,
And something nice to eat!"
"Oh thank you!" answered Harry,
"I'd love a piece of cheese,
That really is the perfect food,
For prickles just like these!"
Geronimo popped back indoors,
To get the hedgehog's snack,
Let's have a little midnight feast!"
He said when he came back.
The two friends ate a lump of cheese,
And drank a lot of milk,
The sky was dark above them,
But the moon was smooth as silk!
When they had finished eating,
They talked a little more,
And Harry said; "I will return,
Of that you can be sure!"
He often visits Teddy,
And now brings his friends too,
Which shows that helping hedgehogs,
Is a kindly thing to do!
THE END.
