Geronimo
and the Haunted House.
The school
bell rang out loudly,
At twenty
five past three,
And all
the children raced outside,
As quickly
as can be.
“I
know,” squealed our Geronimo,
“I’ll
head straight for the wood,
Because
I’m sure a lengthy stroll,
Will do me
lots of good”
Little
Jamie ran right up to him,
And cried
“Please don’t go there,
It’s
full of spooky beings,
As far as
I’m aware!”
“That’s
right,” his sister Tanya wailed,
“A
haunted house I’ve seen,
It’s
home to two old Warlocks,
Who are
horrible and mean.”
But to the
twins amazement,
Kindly
Teddy simply laughed,
“Oh that
is utter rubbish,
You
shouldn’t be so daft.
I love you
both so dearly,
But you
must stop talking rot,
I’m
going to the woodland,
Whether
you like it or not!”
Worried
Jamie looked at Tanya,
And shook
his little head,
He hissed
“We’d better follow him,
Before he
ends up dead!”
“If we
let him handle this alone,
I
wouldn’t get much sleep,”
And so
they followed fearless Bear,
Into the
woods so deep!
When they
reached their destination,
The twins
began to shake,
“Let’s
go back,” Tanya whispered,
“This
was a BIG mistake!”
But our
Furry Chum was not put off,
He told
them “Come with me,”
Then led
them to the “Haunted” house,
As calmly
as can be.
When he
knocked upon the little door,
His
friends were petrified,
“Please
come away,” they begged him,
“We’re
better off outside!”
But then
the door burst open,
And they
gasped in sheer surprise,
Because a
sweet old couple,
Stood
right before their eyes!
The old
woman came straight over,
And kissed
Geronimo,
Then she
smiled at both the children,
And said a
warm “Hello”
“What’s
going on?” asked Jamie,
In a voice
so weak and small,
“This
couple seem quite harmless,
I don’t
understand at all.”
“Me
neither,” whispered Tanya,
“They
look gentle as can be,
And yet I
thought a nasty ghost,
Would jump
straight out on me.”
“I told
you!” Bear assured her,
“You’ll
be absolutely fine,
Because
dear Rose and Brian,
Are
special friends of mine.”
“They’ve
been living in this little house,
For years
and years and years,
The last
thing they would ever do,
Is prey
upon your fears.”
The twins
felt most embarrassed,
And
started going red,
“Oh we
are really sorry,
But we’d
no idea” they said.
“Oh
that’s okay,” Rose answered,
“We all
make some mistakes,
Why
don’t you come inside my dears,
I’ve
just been baking cakes.”
In minutes
everybody,
Was busy
tucking in,
“These
cakes are really yummy,”
Squealed
Jamie with a grin!
“He’s
right you know,” said Tanya,
Picking up
her cup of tea,
“My
tummy’s full to bursting,
And I’m
grateful as can be!”
As they
sat around the table,
They
chatted even more,
Then ever
so reluctantly,
They
headed for the door.
“Nice
meeting you,” called Brian,
Wiping
something from his eye,
“You’re
very entertaining,
And it’s
hard to say goodbye!”
“Don’t
worry,” laughed the children,
“We’ve
had a super day,
Now
we’ll go and tell the others,
That you
two are okay!”
“Oh
thanks a lot,” Rose giggled,
“Now
promise you’ll be good.”
Then
feeling much more cheerful,
The three
friends left the wood!
THE END.
