Geronimo
and the Good Deed.
At half past three one afternoon,
The bell rang out so clear,
"That’s it," grinned our Geronimo,
"I’m getting out of here."
As soon as he was able to,
He hurried out the gate,
While grinning "Now my work is done,
And life feels really great!"
"Things have worked out really nicely,
And when I get indoors,
I’ll take the opportunity,
To rest my weary paws!"
The little Bear was almost home,
When he heard someone cry,
"I wish that you would help me out,
As all alone am I!"
"Good heavens!" muttered Teddy,
"That sounds like Katie’s voice,
I’d better go and help her,
I’ve got no other choice!"
He hurried to his neighbours house,
As quickly as he could,
And soon he spied the little girl,
Who wasn’t feeling good.
She was sitting on the doorstep,
Sucking on her tiny thumb,
"I don’t know what to do," she
sobbed,
"I’m waiting for my Mum.
She’s busy with her cleaning job,
And as the sky is clear,
The only option open,
Was to come and sit out here!"
"Oh really," sighed our Furry friend,
"You shouldn’t be alone,
You could be in tons of danger,
If you sit here on your own.
A stranger could come up to you,
And that would be so sad,
But you’ve got no need to worry,
As a great idea I’ve had."
"It’s been absolutely ages,
Since I had a cup of tea,
So it really would be lovely,
If you’d come indoors with me.
Why don’t we play together,
Until your Mum gets back,
For toys and games are something,
That I really do not lack!"
Katie brightened up a little,
And smiled "That sounds like fun,
I really am so grateful,
For everything you’ve done!"
"No need," smiled our Geronimo,
"You are my mate you see,
Now dry those little eyes of yours,
And come inside with me!"
The little girl took his advice,
As quickly as she could,
And as she sipped her mug of tea,
She grinned "This is so good"
"You’re right," replied the kindly
Bear,
"I feel much better now,
So shall we play these jolly games,
As only we know how?"
"Okay, you’re on." Laughed
Katie."
Getting straight down on the floor,
"After everything I’ve been through,
I couldn’t ask for more!"
The two friends started playing,
Then Teddy heard a knock,
"Good gracious me!" he shouted,
"That gave me such a shock!"
But when he went to open it,
He grinned from ear to ear,
"Oh hello there," he giggled,
"I’ve got your daughter here.
I found her on your doorstep,
Looking worried as could be,
But if you want to take her home,
It’s mighty fine by me!"
"Oh thanks," smiled Katie’s mummy,
"I don’t mind if I do,
You took care of my little girl,
And I’m so proud of you!"
She hugged her little daughter,
Then spun her right around,
And smiled "I’m glad this friend of
yours,
Has kept you safe and sound."
"Oh me too," answered Katie,
"He’s absolutely ace,
And after all that’s happened,
I’ll be sad to leave this place!"
She hugged our Hero tightly,
Then headed out the door,
While calling "Please don’t worry,
"I’m much wiser than before!"
"Next time my mum’s out working,
I’ll use my little head,
I won’t sit on the doorstep,
But come straight here instead!"
"Fantastic," grinned Geronimo,
"The penny drops at last,
I’m so relieved your problems,
Are firmly in the past!"
THE END.
