Geronimo got up one day,

And wandered through the wood,

The sun was shining brightly,

And life felt jolly good,

He picked a bunch of flowers,

For his very good friend Jane,

But then the wind got colder,

And it began to rain!

"Oh bother," said our Furry friend,

"This really is too bad,

And when the sun comes out again,

I will be very glad!"

But then he had a stroke of luck,

For hidden in the grass,

He found a pretty Toadstool,

And couldn’t let it pass.

"I’ll stop and shelter here," thought Bear,

"It looks extremely cosy,

I’d love to have a look around,

But I must not be nosey!"

He sat down on his little paws,

And soon began to doze,

But then the door burst open,

And from his sleep he rose!

The Teddy Bear jumped back in fright,

Because he saw a gnome,

Who said; "Hello, I’m Ninky,

This Toadstool is my home!"

Geronimo felt silly,

"I’m sorry!" he replied,

"But when it started raining,

I had nowhere to hide."

"Oh that’s all right," the kind Gnome laughed,

"You’ll have to come indoors,

But my home is neat and tidy,

So you’ll have to wipe those paws!"

Geronimo smiled "Thank you,"

As he took her sound advice,

"I’ll accept your generous offer,

And don’t need asking twice!"

In the house hung pretty pictures,

And sitting in the corner,

Was a lovely little Ladybird,

Whose Christian name was Lorna!

"Hello there!" smiled Our Furry Friend,

"You are so very small,

It isn’t very often,

That I feel ten foot tall!"

Little Lorna started laughing,

"You cheeky thing!!!" squeaked she,

"You might look like a giant,

But you still can’t fly like me!"

She flapped her tiny wings about,

And landed on Bear’s paw,

"All right, all right!" he chuckled,

"I’ll criticise no more!"

"She loves to do her party piece,"

Said Ninky with a smile,

"Please sit up at the table,

As it’s teatime in a while!"

The three Chums had a lovely meal,

Then Teddy rubbed his belly,

And beamed "I’ll have to come again,

Because I loved your jelly!"

Friend Ninky giggled happily,

"That’s great then," she replied,

"You must have got quite hungry,

While you were sat outside!"

"I did," smiled our Geronimo,

"But you soon put that right,

"Oh look, it’s getting rather late,

I’ll have to say goodnight!"

He kissed the friendly little Gnome,

And patted Lorna’s head,

"It’s been really nice to meet you,

And I’ll come back soon," he said.

THE END.
