Geronimo
and the Gentle Gorilla.
That lucky Bear Geronimo,
Has got a mate called Ron,
And when they get together,
The fun goes on and on.
One sunny Monday morning,
They visited the zoo,
From the moment they arrived there,
They found lots to see and do.
They laughed loudly with a Llama,
And chatted to a cheetah,
"Oh this is great," they giggled,
"Life can’t get any sweeter!"
When the pair looked at their watches,
Both gasped in utter shock,
"We’d better get our lunch out,
"It’s almost one o’clock!"
Armed with their tuna sandwiches,
They headed for a seat,
It was near to the gorilla cage,
Which made their joy complete.
"Oh brilliant!" Ron chuckled,
"I’m glad that we sat here,
Because these crazy creatures,
Make me grin from ear to ear!"
"Me too," replied the smiling Bear,
"Just look at that one there,
He’s pinched someone’s banana,
And doesn’t even care!"
Just as he’d finished speaking,
A gorilla banged the cage,
Although he was the oldest one,
He didn’t act his age!"
The audience began to laugh,
And then what do you think?
Ron rushed so quickly through the crowd,
And didn’t even blink.
At last he reached the massive cage,
And peered over the top,
"Come back at once!" cried Teddy,
"This nonsense has to stop!"
But instead of taking notice,
Of the wise words that he spoke,
The silly boy laughed loudly,
"It’s just a harmless joke.
You’ve got no right to ruin,
My little bit of fun
Because I am quite certain,
That no damage will be done!"
However in an instant,
"Brave" Ron began to fall,
And soon he landed in the cage,
Which wasn’t nice at all.
He shouted out "Please help me,
An idiot I’ve been,
But now to get right out of here,
I’m very, very keen.
He started wailing loudly,
"I’m in a dreadful state,
That’s why I need a helping hand,
Especially from a mate."
Geronimo ran forward,
As quickly as he could,
But the giant crowd was blocking him,
Which really was no good.
He moved back a few paces,
And wore a giant frown,
"I feel so bad," he muttered,
"I’ve let my schoolmate down!"
But as he stood there, quite convinced,
That every hope had gone,
A gorilla came right forward,
And gently picked up Ron.
Then to everyone’s amazement,
He held him in his arms.
And Teddy thought; "My goodness,
He’s got such gentle charms.
He thinks Ron is a baby,
Of that I am quite sure,
I might have had my worries,
But I am scared no more!"
Brave Bear then stepped right forward,
He smiled "You’ve been so kind,
But I will be in trouble,
If I leave my friend behind.
If you hand him over pronto,
I can take him home to Mum,
And next time we are at the zoo,
He will not be so dumb!"
There was a moments silence,
While Gorilla scratched his head,
Then he handed Ron straight over,
Just like Our Chum had said.
"Oh golly," sighed the little boy,
"I thought I’d had it then,
Even though he was so gentle,
I won’t do that again!"
"Thank goodness!" answered Teddy,
"Now get onto your feet,
After all of that excitement,
We need something nice to eat!"
Then they headed back to Ron’s house,
As quickly as they could,
And each time they have an outing,
He is sensible and good.
THE END.
