Geronimo’s Fantasy Football.

Geronimo and Harry,

Were ever so excited,

They were standing on the terraces,

At Manchester United.

The crowds were busy cheering,

And so they joined in too,

"Good heavens!" beamed the little boy,

"This is a dream come true!"

But when the match was due to start,

No players had appeared,

The pitch was still deserted,

No matter how they cheered.

"How very strange!" said Teddy,

"The kick off is at three,

And if the match has been postponed,

So angry I will be!"

"Me too," replied his little friend,

"I think these lads are great,

And yet they’ve gone and let me down,

On this important date!"

But as they sat there moaning,

They had a big surprise,

The Captain, David Beckham,

Appeared before their eyes!

Dressed in his trademark red and white,

He then addressed the crowd,

And told them "Thank you very much,

For cheering very loud

I know you’ve been kept waiting,

But our mascot’s let us down,

And we cannot find another,

Though we’re searched all over town!"

"So if Harry Jones is with you,

He must join us right away,

For none of us could handle,

Another long delay!"

The little boy was thrilled to bits,

As anyone would be,

He turned towards the kindly bear,

And squealed "Does he mean me?"

"Of course!" laughed Our Geronimo,

"Get down there while you can,

For if you don’t act quickly,

He’ll pick another fan!"

As Harry raced upon the pitch,

He grinned from ear to ear,

And beamed "Don’t worry David,

You mascot’s finally here!"

The captain smiled so broadly,

And answered "I’m so glad,

The search for a replacement,

Was driving me quite mad!"

"Now come with me," he added,

"And let’s get you kitted out,

You’ll look a bobby dazzler,

Of that I have no doubt!"

They went into a room and then,

To little Bear’s delight,

His Chum walked though the tunnel,

All dressed in red and white!

"Look everyone!" he shouted,

"That is my mate down there,

And when it comes to football,

His got such style and flair!"

The crowd just went bananas,

They chanted Harry’s name,

And said "You are terrific,

We’re extremely glad you came!"

When the team was finally settled,

Harry went back to the stand,

Where luckily the game worked out,

Exactly as he planned.

He squealed "I don’t believe it,

We’ve just thrashed Spurs 3-1,

I just cannot get over,

How very well we’ve done!"

"Me neither," giggled Teddy,

"But now the match is through,

I reckon their success today,

Was mainly down to you!"
