Geronimo's Easter Surprise.
It was
Easter Sunday morning,
And
excitement filled the air,
"I've
never been this happy,"
Squealed Geronimo the Bear.
He
raced straight down the wooden stairs,
As soon
as he was able,
"Thank
goodness you've arrived," smiled Jane,
"Your
breakfast's on the table!"

Our
Chum was quite ecstatic,
As he
sat down in his seat,
He
laughed: "I'm sure this breakfast,
Will go
down like a treat.
Boiled
eggs are so nutritious,
So I
like them very much,
And
you've drawn a face on this one,
Which
is a lovely touch".
"Oh you
are just a flatterer,"
The
little girl replied,
"Now
the washing is all ready,
So I've
got to pop outside!"
As she
trotted down the garden path,
The
cheeky Bear grinned "Good,
I can
gobble this up quickly,
Just
like I said I would!"
But as
he lifted up his spoon,
And
gently tapped the shell,
A
little voice wailed; "Don't hit me,
It
might make me unwell."
How
funny," thought Geronimo,
"I
swear I heard a sound,
It must
be an illusion,
As
there's no one else around!"
But
when he tapped the shell again,
The
voice was plain as day,
It
wailed "You've made my head ache,
So I
wish you'd go away!"
"I'm
sure you wouldn't like it,
If I
did the same to you,
But it
seems you haven't noticed,
That
I've got feelings too!"

Our
Furry friend was startled,
And sat
back in his seat,
"Who's
doing this?" he quivered,
"I only
want to eat."
But
when he looked down at his plate,
He got
a big surprise,
The
sweetest egg he'd ever seen,
Was
gazing in his eyes!
"I
don't mean to get cross," she wailed,
"But
you were hurting me,
"I am a
kind and thoughtful soul,
Whose
name is Emily.
It
might have seemed quite jolly,
To come
and pull my leg,
But
tricks can prove so dangerous,
When
you're a free range egg."
"Oh
no," groaned Teddy inwardly,
"Whatever have I done?
I'll
end up paying dearly,
For
this little bit of fun,
He
started laughing nervously,
"You
really do exist?
Oh I
hope you will forgive me,
As I'm
slightly round the twist."
"I
didn't think that teasing you,
Would
be a massive deal,
Because
it never crossed my mind,
That
Eggs like you were real!"
"Well
you were wrong," said Emily.
I'm
really just like you,
I laugh
at funny stories,
And cry
at sad ones too."
Geronimo felt awful,
He
sighed "I'd no idea,
I think
the best thing I can do,
Is run
away from here.
I'm
sorry that I hurt you,
Because
you are so sweet,
But now
I've gone and ruined,
This
special Easter treat!"
The
kind egg started laughing,
Until
she almost shook,
She
smiled "It's Easter day my dear,
So you
are off the hook!"
"It
must have been an awful shock,
To
realise I was real,
But
please stop feeling guilty,
As this
isn't a big deal!"

Then to
show he was forgiven,
She
danced around the plate,
"Oh
Emily," beamed little Bear,
"You're
absolutely great!"
His
shelly chum bowed quickly,
"Well
thank you," she replied,
"I've
got so many talents,
Which I
sometimes have to hide!"
The
pair just went on chatting,
Then
Teddy cried "Oh no,
I can
hear the sound of footsteps,
So you
will have to go!"
The egg
looked disappointed,
Then
she jumped back in her cup,
"We've
had a lovely day," she sighed,
"I'm
sad our time is up!"
"I
think it is a pity too,"
Geronimo replied,
"But
I'll put you in the cupboard,
It's
the perfect place to hide."
"Oh
yes," agreed kind Emily,
"You
really are so clever,
I'll
pop out when you're on your own,
And
we'll stay friends forever!"
"Of
course," our Hero giggled,
"That's
all part of the plan,
But
we've got to get you hidden,
As
quickly as we can!"
He took
her to the cupboard,
And put
her on the shelf,
She
looked so like a normal egg,
Just
sat there by herself.
"Goodbye," he whispered softly,
As he
shut the cupboard door,
I
promise in a little while,
I'll
get you out once more."
Then,
just as if by magic,
Friend
Jane came bounding in,
"So you
enjoyed your breakfast then,"
She
chuckled with a grin.
"Yes
thank you!" Bear said smiling,
"In
fact it's fair to say,
That
wonderful surprise of yours,
Has
made my Easter day!"
THE
END.
