Easter Bunny

The flowers had all woken up,

And spring was on its way,

Geronimo went for a walk,

One sunny Easter Day.

Our Furry Friend was most upset,

No Easter Eggs had he,

"It's just NOT fair," he grumbled,

"No one's remembered me."

"I didn't get an Easter Egg,

Not even one from Jane,

Oh, life is really rotten"

He went on to complain!

Then Teddy saw a building,

It had a sign upon it,

Which read; "With every purchase,

There comes an Easter Bonnet!"

Geronimo was most intrigued,

And knocked upon the door,

Exactly what response he'd get,

Our hero wasn't sure!

The Teddy felt quite nervous,

But soon forgot his fears,

Because he met a bunny,

With lovely furry ears!

"Hello" she smiled "I'm Barbara,"

"Please come along with me,

For if you're called Geronimo,

There's something you should see!"

She led the puzzled Teddy,

Into a little room,

And when he saw its contents,

He soon forgot his gloom!

In fact his eyes grew bigger,

As he looked upon the shelves,

Because all kinds of Easter Eggs,

Were sitting by themselves!

"Oh Golly!" cried Geronimo,

"Those eggs look REALLY yummy,

I'm sure there is a space for one,

Inside my empty tummy!"

"I'm glad you said that darling,"

Said Barbara with a smile,

"Because I have a secret,

That I've kept for quite a while!"

She stepped behind the counter,

And pulled out a surprise,

The very biggest Egg of all,

Was soon before Bear's eyes.

It really was quite beautiful,

And wore a giant bow,

And written in white icing,

Was the name GERONIMO!

I don't believe it!" Teddy gasped,

"This egg is all for me,

Oh Barbara you're fantastic,

I'm as happy as can be!"

"Jane brought it!" smiled the rabbit,

"We planned this treat together,

The Easter Bunny works all year,

Not just in sunny weather!"

"I love this job!" she added,

"It suits me perfectly,

In fact I have just one request,

That folk believe in me!"

'Well I do" laughed Geronimo,

"To know you I am glad,

This is the nicest Easter Day,

That I have ever had!"

He chose an Easter bonnet,

And took it home to Jane,

The little girl was so relieved,

That they were friends again!

THE END.
