Geronimo
Saves Dennis the Dragonfly.
One evening our Geronimo,
Was sitting in the bath,
He was playing with his rubber duck,
And having such a laugh.
"This is wonderful," he murmured.
"It’s been such a stressful day,
But there’s nothing like a nice, long soak,
To soothe your cares away!"
He lay down in the water,
And immersed himself in bubbles,
Soon the sleepy little Teddy,
Had forgotten all his troubles.
He’d been there for half an hour,
When there was a buzzing sound,
"Oh go away!" he grumbled,
"Stop messing me around!"
But the buzzing noise got louder,
So Bear sat up in disgust,
"This can’t go on!" he grunted,
"Investigate I must."
He climbed out of the bright pink bath,
And rubbed himself all dry,
Then on the outside Window ledge,
He saw a Dragonfly!!
Our Furry Chum was horrified,
As anyone would be,
And he wailed in desperation,
"Why come and pick on me?
I’m not too fond of insects,
They make me want to shout,
So for that simple reason,
I’ll have to throw you out!"
"Oh don’t be scared!" begged
Dragonfly,
"I may look like a menace,
But I’m pretty harmless really,
And my mates all call me Dennis.
The fairies ride upon my wings,
And know me very well,
I love to make them giggle,
With all the jokes I tell!"
"When I first saw your little house,
I thought it looked exquisite,
That’s why it seemed a good idea,
To pay a flying visit!!"
Geronimo laughed loudly,
And puffed out his small chest,
"Oh very good!" he answered,
"The old ones are the best!!"
"I quite agree," smiled Dennis,
"It’s so nice to have a giggle,
When you stretch your chuckle muscles,
It makes your belly wiggle!"
"You’re telling me!" smiled Teddy,
"I feel just like a jelly,
You are a better tonic,
Than those funny men on telly!"
His small friend was delighted,
And answered "Thanks so much,
I used to be in showbiz,
But I haven’t lost my touch!"
Then without a word of warning,
He jumped into the bath,
This seemed to make him happy,
So he gave the loudest laugh!
Our Hero was astounded though,
And went to pull him out,
"You wally!" he yelled loudly,
"Stop messing me about.
You’re only very tiny,
And you could drown in there,
So It’s time to take some action,
As far as I’m aware!"
"Oh chill out please!" Sighed Dennis,
"I’m only having fun,
You see, I’m used to water,
So now harm will be done.
There’s no need for dramatics,
As the perfect toy I’ve found,
So kindly leave me to it,
And let me play around!"
He dived beneath the water,
And then came up again,
"You barmy thing!" laughed little
Bear,
"You’re nothing but a pain!"
"Ooh don’t say that!" cried
Dragonfly,
"You might just make me weep,
It’s time for me to fly right now,
So you can get some sleep!"
"I’d like to come back often,
But if I made you cross,
I’ll disappear forever,
And that would be your loss!"
Geronimo grinned broadly,
"I realise that!" smiled he,
"You can pop in here at any time,
And welcome you would be!"
"Oh goody," answered Dennis,
"I was hoping you’d say that,
I’m already looking forward,
To another lengthy chat!"
THE END.
