That chirpy Bear Geronimo,

Felt quite fed up one day,

You see, he had a problem,

Which just wouldn’t go away.

"It’s just not fair!" he muttered,

"Life ought to be so sweet,

But everybody laughs at me,

As I’ve got two left feet!"

"I’d love to climb up on the stage,

And do a little dance,

But because I am so useless,

I’ll never get the chance."

A big, fat tear rolled down his cheek,

As most upset was he,

"Don’t worry Dear," Jane told him,

"Just leave it all with me!"

She didn’t say another word,

For seven days or so,

But when the weekend came around,

She giggled "Off we go!"

"Do what?" asked Teddy puzzled,

"I don’t know what you mean,

You’re being so mysterious,

I wish you would come clean!"

"Not yet," replied the little girl,

"Let’s go into the wood,

This big surprise I’m planning,

Is all for your own good."

Grinning very, very broadly,

She pulled him out the chair,

"Just follow me!" she chuckled,

"We’ve got no time to spare!"

Our Hero was still mystified,

But did just as she said,

While sighing "Please don’t rush me,

I ought to be in bed!"

As they hurried down the country lane,

He didn’t want to chat,

But when they finally reached the wood,

He yelled out "Fancy that!"

For standing right in front of him,

There was a Dancing School,

Geronimo squealed happily,

"Oh this is really cool."

"Come on then" smiled his special friend,

"It’s time we went inside,

I promise in a little while,

You’ll be so satisfied!"

They went into the little hall,

And there upon the stage,

There stood a very pretty girl,

Quite tiny for her age.

She was doing the best tap dance,

That Bear had ever seen,

But he turned to Jane and muttered.

"How could you be so mean!"

"As much as I would like to,

I could never dance that well,

I’m here on false pretences,

As far as I can tell!"

His special friend looked at him,

And hissed "Oh you’re so wrong,

I’ve enrolled you in the classes,

So kindly come along!"

Our furry Chum was really shocked,

And then at last he spoke,

"You’ve done what?" he asked sheepishly,

"This has to be a joke!"

"It isn’t!" came the quick reply,

"Let’s go up on the stage,

This is no time to mess about,

So will you act your age!"

She led him up on to the stage,

And then what do you know,

The dancer ran straight over,

To say a warm "hello!"

Jane answered "Hi there Lucy,

This is Geronimo,

Right now he cannot tap dance,

So please teach all you know?"

"Of course," replied her clever friend,

"He is a little treasure,

To teach him all the proper steps,

Would gave me lots of pleasure!"

She stretched a kindly hand out,

And told Bear "Come with me,

There’s no need to be nervous,

As quite okay you’ll be!"

She led him to a tiny room,

And then she shut the door,

But Jane got such a big surprise,

When they came out once more.

For in under half an hour,

He’d learned a dance routine,

And to show off his new dance steps,

Our Hero was so keen!

He and the lovely Lucy,

Jumped up and down and then,

To show they were not out of breath,

They did it all again.

Jane clapped and cheered so loudly,

And when the show was through,

She told the happy Teddy

"Oh I’m so proud of you!"

Geronimo blushed "Don’t be daft,

"It’s down to my friend here,

And I’ll be coming back next week,

Of that please have no fear!"

He goes back to the little hall,

Whenever there’s a chance,

Because he is so grateful,

Lucy taught him how to dance!

THE END.
