Geronimo and The Christmas Party.
A
chilly wind was blowing,
And
snow began to fall,
But
Geronimo the little Bear,
Just
didn't mind at all.
He was
sitting in the living room,
Beside
a nice, warm fire,
And
counting all his Christmas gifts,
As was
his hearts desire.
"I
think I'm very lucky,"
Thought
Teddy to himself,
"There's love and warmth around me,
And I'm
in the best of health."
With
that, he nodded off to sleep,
And
soon began to snore,
But
then he was awoken,
By a
knocking at the door.
"Oh
curses!" cried our Furry Chum,
"Don't
they know I'm busy resting?
I'll go
outside and tell them,
That my
patience they are testing!"
He
dragged himself out of the chair,
And
shouted out; "Okay,
Please
stop your awful banging,
Because
I'm on my way!"
But
when he opened up the door,
He saw
the saddest sight,
Joe
Bear was standing on the step,
His
poor face pale with fright.
"What's
up?" asked our Geronimo,
"You're
clearly out of breath,
I think
you'd better come indoors,
Before
you catch your death!"
"I
haven't got the time," sobbed Joe,
"Barry
slipped up on the ice,
And now
he is in hospital,
Which
isn't very nice!"
His
fellow Teddy was concerned,
But
told him; "Please don't worry,
Because
you've got two special friends,
Who'll
help you in a hurry!"
When
she heard Joe's sorry story,
Jane
was very worried too,
But
smiled; "Well, don't just stand there!
As
we've lots of things to do!"
She led
them to the kitchen,
And
they started to prepare,
A tray
of yummy sausage rolls,
And
other Christmas fare.
Her
helpers made some paper chains,
To hang
by Barry's bed,
"Oh
won't he get a BIG surprise!"
The
cheeky Teddy's said.
The
little girl just giggled,
And
answered; "I agree,
Please
go and fetch his presents,
From
underneath the tree."
When
they reached the cottage hospital,
The
Bears were so excited,
When
Barry saw what they had done,
He too,
was quite delighted
"We
heard about your accident,"
Smiled
Our Geronimo,
"And
thought a Christmas Party,
Might
stop you feeling low."

"You're
spot on there!" laughed Barry,
"This
party will be great,
And all
the staff and patients,
Can
help us celebrate!"
When
the food was on the table,
Joe
gave a cheeky grin,
And
shouted; "Happy Christmas!
The fun
can now begin!"
The
children all raced forward,
Then
when they'd had their fill,
They
giggled; "That was lovely,
And it
stopped us feeling ill."
"In
that case," smiled the Sister,
"Some
Party games we'll play,
And
then we'll sing some carols,
As it's
nearly Christmas Day!"
In
seconds everybody,
Was
dancing on the floor,
Jane
even won the dolly,
Which
she'd been hoping for.
Geronimo and little Joe,
Then
organised a conga,
"You
two are mad!" Nurse Jenny cried,
"I
can't go on much longer!"
Meanwhile back on the busy ward,
Lynn
ran to Barry's bed,
"Hey,
I've just found some Misletoe,
Give me
a kiss!" she said.
The
kindly boy leaned forward,
And
kissed her on the cheek,
"Oh
thank you!" blushed the dizzy girl,
"You've
made my knees go weak!!"
The
party guests had so much fun,
But
then up came the moon,
"We'd
better finish now," sighed Jane,
"As
bedtime's coming soon."
Friend
Barry hugged his special friends,
As
tightly as he could,
And
smiled "I might be poorly,
But
today's been really good."
"I'll
always be so grateful,
That
you made my dreams come true,
And
hope that Christmas happiness,
Will be
returned to you."
THE END.
