Geronimo and the Carnival
Geronimo, the little Bear,
Was in the shower singing,
When suddenly he stopped because,
He heard the doorbell ringing!
He wrapped a towel around him,
And grumbled; "Goodness me,
I'm sopping wet all over,
"Oh whoever could that be?"
The Teddy ran downstairs and then,
He opened up the door,
Joe Bear was on the doorstep,
And he had plans galore!
He had friend Barry with him,
And they had news to tell,
The Carnival was coming,
With stalls and floats as well!
"It's going to be great!" they
yelled,
"We're entering this year,
Our float will be quite brilliant,
Do come along and cheer!"
Joe added "I'll be Super Bear,
And want you as my brother,
I'd also really like it,
If Jane could play our mother!"

Our furry friend was most impressed,
And danced around in glee,
He shouted "Oh that WILL be fun,
Please Jane DO come with me!"
The little girl began to laugh,
"Okay then," she replied,
"I'll make some super costumes,
Now lets all go inside!"
Joe Bear soon had a smashing cape,
With SB written on it,
It was blue and red all over,
With stars and moons upon it!
Our hero had a cloak as well,
But his was made of gold,
It said, "I'm SB's brother"
In letters big and bold!
The two Bears loved their costumes,
And thanked Jane very much,
They said; "You are an angel,
Who has a magic touch!"
Meanwhile out in the garden,
Barry got the float all ready,
He made a special forest,
Which was fit for any Teddy.
He painted lovely trees of green,
And birds and bees and flowers,
The clever boy worked very hard,
It took him many hours.
When his handiwork was finished,
It looked very good indeed,
"Oh Barry, you're a genius!"
His special friends agreed.
The morning came quite quickly,
And everyone got dressed,
Friend Barry laughed "Our little float,
Will surely beat the rest!"
When breakfast had been eaten
He checked it was all right,
And in the beaming sunshine,
It looked a lovely sight!
Friend Jane had got up early,
To finish off some tasks,
She'd made from some old cardboard,
Some super Teddy masks!
When she and Barry put them on,
They looked extremely funny,
The two Bears laughed; "You're just like
us,
Where are your pots of honey?"
When everything was ready,
They climbed aboard the float,
And Barry grinned; "This is more fun,
Than sailing in a boat!"
"Oh yes, it's really great!" smiled
Jane,
"There is so much to see,
And if we win the carnival,
So happy I will be!"
The Bears were quite excited too,
The other floats were good,
"Oh look," cried Joe, "That boy
up there,
Looks just like Robin Hood!"
"I really like that space ship,"
Piped up Geronimo,
"It's made from silver paper,
And it's very good you know!"
The bears saw other lovely things,
There was a froggie stall,
A man was selling beefburgers,
To people one and all!
"Oh yum!" cried our Geronimo,
Those Burgers look just great,
The judges will be coming soon,
So we will have to wait!"
The teddies looked around and saw,
The judges were in sight,
"Don't worry," whispered Barry,
"I'm sure we'll be alright!"
The judges were a merry bunch,
They talked to all the crowd,
And of the many floats on show,
They were extremely proud!
One lady gave the space ship,
A rosette coloured red,
This made Joe Bear extremely cross,
"It's just not fair!" he said.
"You silly thing!" laughed little
Jane,
"The space ship has come third.
There's still a chance that we will win,
On that you have my word!"
Joe Bear felt very silly,
And ran around the field,
The lovely froggie stall they'd seen,
Had won a special shield!
"Oh look! here comes another judge!"
Yelled our Geronimo,
"Oh this is so exciting,
I wonder how we'll go?"
"I really like your costumes",
The judge said to the Bears,
And then she turned to Jane and grinned,
"Your face looks just like theirs!"
Joe laughed; "My Dad is wonderful!
This float is all hand painted,
And Jane made all these costumes too,
I think she should be sainted!"
"He's right," piped up Geronimo,
"They're clever as can be,"
The judge just smiled a lovely smile,
And told them "I agree!"
She pulled out from her pocket,
A rosette marked; "FIRST PRIZE",
And Joe Bear and Geronimo,
Could not believe their eyes!
They did a dance and shouted;
'We've won! We've won! We've won!
We just cannot believe it,
And have had tremendous fun!"
As for little Jane and Barry,
They hugged each other tightly,
"Today has been amazing,"
They told each other brightly!
They looked down at the Teddies,
And said "Come along you two,
Let's go and buy some burgers,
Like other winners do!"
THE END.
