Geronimo the little Bear,

Woke up one sunny day,

He heard a funny tapping sound,

Which wouldn't go away.

But when he opened up the door,

He found nobody there,

"Oh, this is quite mysterious,

What's going on?" said Bear.

"It's me!" replied a tiny voice,

"Please look above your head,

My Christian name is Bridget,

And I am filled with dread!"

Geronimo looked upwards,

And saw a butterfly,

She was extremely pretty,

But looked like she could cry!

The Teddy Bear was very pleased,

To have a brand new chum,

He said; "Hello there, Bridget,

Please tell me why you're glum!"

"It's simple," said the Butterfly,

"There is a brand-new craze,

Some people catch us in their nets,

And leave us there for days!"

How horrid!" cried Geronimo,

"You are such graceful Creatures,

And humans haven't got the right,

To damage your fine features!"

"I'd gladly join your grand crusade,"

He went on to explain,

"It really isn't fair at all,

That you should suffer pain!"

Then Teddy had a bright idea,

He headed for the park,

With lovely Bridget by his side,

He'd stop this awful lark!

Bear knew that Bill the bully,

Would be chasing butterflies,

And it wouldn't be unfair at all,

To give him a surprise!

The park was very crowded,

And Bill, the stupid fool,

Was busy chasing butterflies,

With all his friends from school!

The Teddy Bear crept up on him,

just as he clutched his net,

He shouted; "Will you stop that Bill!

How horrid can you get?"

The Bully really lost control,

He jumped up in the air,

His great big net fell on the ground

Which pleased the little Bear!

The silly boy felt foolish,

And hung his head in shame,

He cried; "I didn't mean it!

It was just a little game!"

"Oh no it's not!" said Bridget,

So angry her wings flapped,

"It can be VERY frightening,

When butterflies get trapped!"

"We want to drink our nectar,

In harmony and peace,

SO put away your awful net,

And let this chasing cease!"

So Bill, the silly bully,

Chases butterflies no more,

And they are so much happier,

Of that you can be sure!

Geronimo and Bridget,

Remain the best of friends,

And on that very happy note,

This little story ends!

THE END.
