Geronimo’s Busy Night.
One very Chilly Christmas Eve, Geronimo the Bear, Went walking in the Countryside, To get a bit of air. The stars were busy twinkling, And it seemed a normal night, Then a miracle unfolded, Beneath the stars so bright. As Teddy wandered by a barn. He heard an urgent cry, He thought “Someone’s in trouble, I can’t just walk on by Without any hesitation, He hurried through the door, And then he saw a woman, Who he’d never met before! In her arms there was a baby, Who was only hours old, He was a little treasure, Who was being good as gold, Our chum went over to them, And then he gave a smile, “He’s really cute,” he whispered, “Have you been here for a while?” “Oh yes,” replied the woman, “We had nowhere else to go, The local inn was all locked up, Which really was a blow! But things have worked out well because, It’s nice and warm in here, Thanks very much for worrying, But there’s no need my dear!”
“But you’ve just had a baby,” Geronimo replied. “Until someone has checked you out, “I won’t be satisfied!” “I’ll pop out for a minute, To phone a friend of mine, I’ll be back before you know it, And things will work out fine!” But as he went to make the call, A big disaster struck, And the happy little party, Ran completely out of luck! Bear was standing in the kiosk, When he saw a puff of smoke, “Oh what a night,” he shouted, “This is beyond a joke!” He dialled 999 in minutes And spoke into the phone, “The barn is now on fire. I can’t handle this alone. A mother and her newborn son, Are sadly trapped inside, Do come and help me quickly, As I am terrified!” Before you could say “trauma”, Policeman Pat was on the scene, “Oh deary me!” he muttered, “”I see just what you mean! I’ll phone the Fire station, As quickly as I can, Because I’m pretty certain, They’ll make things go to plan!” He picked up his walkie talkie, And spoke to his friend Peter, “The local barn’s on fire, Please come and make things neater. Inside there is a mother, And her tiny, newborn son, Which means this call I’m making, Is an important one!”
“Don’t worry!” came the quick reply, “I’m on my way right now, Then I can put the fire out, As only I know how!” In seconds a red engine, Had arrived upon the scene, Bear grinned “That fellow’s dynamite, If you know what I mean!” “Of course I do!” Pat answered, “Oh look the fire’s out, He’s worked an utter miracle, Of that there is no doubt!” Peter came out with the others, Who were absolutely fine, But he said “They need a check up, So we
should ring 999!”
Geronimo just had to laugh, He teased “Oh not again! We’ve done that twice already, They’ll be starting to complain!” But the policeman just ignored him, And dialled the special number, He said; “We need an ambulance, Two people are in lumber!” He put down the receiver, And in no time at all, A kind man came to answer, The most important call. “Oh hello Cliff,” Pat called to him, “I’m so glad you are here, Isn’t been a very hectic night, Of that please have no fear.” “The casualties are quite unharmed, But they’ve been stuck in there, So you’d better check them over, And give them tender care!” Cliff went over to the woman, As quickly as he could, And told her “Come with me my love, You’ll soon be feeling good!”
As teddy stood in silence, He thought “My goodness me, This scene looks so familiar, As far as I can see. I read a story long ago, About the three wise men, And on this busy Christmas eve, It seems they’ve called again!” THE END. |
