Nan often takes him to the Club,

To play a game of Bingo,

So naturally Geronimo,

Soon picked up all the lingo!

He never thought this special skill,

Would ever come in handy,

For every time they took their seats,

Things seemed so fine and dandy.

But on one Tuesday evening,

At twenty five to nine,

Our modest little Hero,

Got a one off chance to shine.

The caller had an awful cold,

And had to stay in bed,

So everyone was most upset,

"Oh what a shame!" they said.

"We’ve got the cards and counters,

And we’ve brought our money too,

But without a proper caller,

There’s nothing we can do!"

They sat there looking really sad,

Then Nan cried "It’s okay,

I’ve thought of a solution,

Which might just save the day,"

"My grandson knows the numbers,

So he can call them out,

He’ll make a super job of it,

Of that I have no doubt!"

"You’re joking!" gasped our Furry Friend,

"Have you gone off your head?

In case you haven’t noticed,

I’m still not that well read!"

"Come on," urged the old woman,

"It must be worth a try,

But you’ll have to get a move on,

As time is passing by!"

Poor Teddy was still doubtful,

But he did as he was told,

Although when he climbed up on stage,

He didn’t feel too bold!

But when everything was ready,

He gave a little cough,

And murmured; "Eyes down looking,

Are we ready for the off?

"Of course!" laughed the old people,

"We’ve been waiting here for hours,

Now will you please amaze us,

With your Bingo calling powers!"

"Of course," smiled our Geronimo,

"First out is number one,

Which really is quite cosmic,

As it’s where it all begun!"

The audience cheered loudly,

"You’re doing jolly well,

Now what is the next number,

Do hurry up and tell!"

The kindly bear beamed at them,

Then pulled out 52,

And laughed "I hope you’re using,

Those beady eyes of blue!"

He dipped into the bag again,

And called out "Legs 11,

With so many pairs in front of me,

I think I’ve gone to heaven!"

The old folk started laughing,

In absolute delight,

"You flatterer!" they chuckled,

"If only you were right!"

Blushing very, very slightly,

He pulled out 59,

And giggled "Oh my goodness,

We’re now on the Brighton Line!"

"I’m very, very happy,

That things are going great,

Here come the two fat ladies,

And number 88!"

Then fun and games continued,

But then what do you think?

Nan leapt out of her little seat,

Completely tickled pink!

Then she shouted really loudly,

"I’ve won, I’ve won, I’ve won,

I just cannot get over,

How very well I’ve done!"

"You didn’t!" giggled Mrs Wye,

"I wanted 66,

But now it’s really obvious,

This game has been a fix!"

Our Furry Chum was worried,

Then he saw her twinkling eyes,

And hugged Nan oh so tightly,

As she went to claim her prize.

When the prize giving was over,

Everybody gave a cheer,

It went on for several minutes,

And was really loud and clear!

Geronimo looked at them all,

And murmured "Oh what’s this?

I get a strong impression,

That something is amiss!"

"Oh honestly!" his new friends laughed,

"Stop being such a dope,

You bailed us out this evening,

And you’ll come again we hope!"

The little Bear smiled broadly,

And replied "Oh course I will,

For calling Bingo numbers,

Is a jolly useful skill!"

THE END.
