Geronimo Goes on a Bed Push.
Geronimo the little Bear,
Was fast asleep one day,
But then he heard a knocking sound,
Which wouldn't go away.
"Oh Bother!" Teddy muttered,
"I feel I want to scream,
Because I've been awoken,
From a really lovely dream!"
He grabbed his favourite dressing gown,
And stumbled down the stairs,
"I'm very cross!" he mumbled,
"You've caught me unawares!"
But when he opened up the door,
Bear had a big surprise,
Because his Auntie Helen,
Was right before his eyes!
She stood behind a giant bed,
Which blocked the busy road,
And tucked between the covers,
Was a very precious load!
Friend Barry and his Teddy Joe,
Were wearing their pyjamas,
"Oh goodness me!" groaned little Bear,
"I can't stand all these dramas!"
"We're going on a bed push!"
His kindly Aunt explained,
"And thought you'd like to come along,
To keep us entertained!"
Our furry Chum was still confused,
And thought "This can't be right!"
"Oh come on!" shouted Barry,
"We haven't got all night!"
"We've got to raise some money,"
Joe added with a smile,
"Or else the Cottage Hospital,
Will close in just a while!"
"We can't have that!" cried Teddy,
"I'll only be a minute,"
He walked straight to the giant bed,
And then he jumped right in it!
When everyone was settled,
He smiled; "It's time to go!"
"You've got to grab a bedpan first!"
Teased cheeky little Joe!
They rode along the busy street,
And headed for the town,
Joe called out; "Help the hospital!
And stop it closing down!"
It wasn't very long before,
Some people had appeared,
And when the saw the jolly chums,
My goodness, how they cheered!
A little girl called Emma,
Came running though the crowd,
She filled the bedpans up with coins,
And felt extremely proud!
Friend Barry bent right forward,
And kissed her on the cheek,
"Oh thank you very much!" he smiled,
"You've brightened up my week."
"Hang on," her Sister Sarah laughed,
"I've got some pennies too,
And if you don't collect them,
I'll get very cross with you!"
She raced up to Geronimo,
And filled his paw with money,
"Your nightcap's inside out!" she grinned,
"It makes you look quite funny!"
Our furry Friend just giggled,
And said; "I've got to fly,
I really hate to leave you,
But it's time to say goodbye!"
The chums waved to the little girls,
As down the street they went,
"You know," said Barry thoughtfully,
"Today's been so well spent!"
"You cheeky thing!" puffed Helen,
"My poor old feet are aching,
And then when I get home tonight,
I've got to do some baking!"
"Oh goody!" cried the Teddies,
"Can we come back for tea?"
"I don't know," answered Auntie,
"You'll have to wait and see!"
The party travelled onwards,
Then Joe squealed in delight,
"I've just seen Sister Gibson!
The Hospital's in sight!"
As the jolly chums drew nearer,
They saw that it was true,
The Sister was there cheering,
With some other nurses too!
"We've done it!" shouted Barry,
We've saved this special place,
And all your money worries,
Have vanished without trace!"
He lept out of the giant bed,
And the two Bears did the same,
They laughed; "To miss this moment,
Would be a dreadful shame!"
They went up to the Sister,
And gave her all their money,
"Oh thank you VERY much," she beamed,
"Our future now looks sunny!"
"You must come in!" she added,
The patients are all waiting,
Because your big achievement,
Is well worth celebrating!"
The chums went to the day room,
Where they ate a lovely tea,
And everybody present,
Felt as happy as could be!
THE END.
