The stars were busy twinkling,

And the moon was shining bright,

But Geronimo was still convinced,

That something wasn’t right.

He kept on hearing noises,

Which kept him wide awake,

So he shouted very loudly,

"Shut up, for goodness sake!"

However when he turned around,

And closed his sleepy eyes,

The loudest crash he’d ever heard,

Took Teddy by surprise.

He leapt out of his cosy bed,

And then he raced outside,

"This isn’t fair!" he muttered,

"I’m still so bleary eyed!"

"That’s why when I get hold of you,

A massive row there’ll be,

Because it’s quite immoral,

To keep disturbing me!"

But sadly the intruder,

Was nowhere to be found,

And then the poor Bear noticed,

Something odd upon the ground.

"A dustbin lid!" he mumbled,

"How on earth did that get there?

I think I’ll do the decent thing,

And put it back with care!"

But when he went to do the deed,

A badger caught his eye,

And giggled "Please don’t squash me,

As very cute am I!"

"I know that you’ve been sleeping,

And to wake you wasn’t right,

But when I saw these tasty scraps,

I had to take a bite.

The last thing I intended,

Was to make you want to scowl,

But we badgers get quite hungry,

When we’re out upon the prowl!"

Our Furry friend smiled down at him,

And said "I should be cross,

But since you look so funny,

I’m at a dreadful loss.

I don’t think you will listen,

To anything I say,

And so the only option,

Is for me to let you stay!"

"Oh thank you," laughed the animal,

"I knew that you’d see sense,

Because unlike some humans,

You’re not the least bit dense.

My Christian name is Bazmo,"

He went on to explain,

And now we’ve got things sorted,

I feel as right as rain!"

Geronimo just chuckled,

"You’ve got a proper nerve,

I’ll go inside and get you,

The snack that you deserve!"

Crafty Bazmo was delighted,

So he jumped out of the bin,

And feeling very satisfied,

He gave another grin.

"Oh thanks a lot!" he answered,

That’s such a good idea,

I’ve fallen on my feet tonight,

That much is crystal clear."

"Oh honestly," Bear giggled,

"You really are a cad,

But I am not complaining,

As a lovely time we’ve had!"

He went inside the little house,

And came back with some meat,

"Terrific," smiled the Badger,

"That’ll go down like a treat!"

He ran over to the tasty snack,

And ate it up in haste,

"You see," he said so smugly,

"Not one bit went to waste!"

"You’re telling me!!" squealed Teddy,

"That went down much too fast,

And yet our very special bond,

Will last and last and last."

He picked up lovely Bazmo,

And gave him a big hug,

"Don’t worry," he said gently,

"This will keep you warm and snug."

"That’s true" his new friend giggled,

"I like a bit of fuss,

But this very special secret,

Is between the two of us."

The pair continued chatting,

But then to their surprise,

Time flew by very quickly,

And the sun began to rise!

"My goodness!" cried the Badger,

"I think I’d better run,

Oh this is a dreadful pity,

We were having so much fun!"

Geronimo looked at him,

And smiled "I quite agree,

But don’t go getting miserable,

As there’s no need you see!"

"Now that we’re the best of buddies,

I can leave you out more food,

And I hope this generous offer,

Will brighten up your mood!"

"It has it has!" squealed Bazmo,

With a twinkle in his eye.

"I’ll pop back every evening,

When the moon is oh so high!"

"Fantastic," smiled Bear kindly,

"I was hoping that you would,

But if I put you down right now,

You’ve got to be so good!"

"I always am," came the reply,

"Now will you let me go,

In case you didn’t realise,

It’s daytime now you know!"

"Oh sorry," muttered Teddy,

Putting Bazmo on the ground,

"It’s just while you were in my paws,

You looked so safe and sound."

"Oh Ill be fine," called Badger,

As he bounded out of sight,

"Just get my supper ready,

For twelve o’clock tonight!"

THE END.
