Geronimo
and the Bad Loser.
One summer our Geronimo,
Went to the Isle of Wight,
He squealed "This place is awesome,
I think I’ll be all right!
To try out it’s attractions,
I’m very, very keen,
I think I’ll start by visiting,
The local putting green!"
When he reached his destination,
He giggled "This is great,
To have a bit of harmless fun,
I really cannot wait!"
Bear got into position,
And then began to play,
But then a little boy came by,
And shouted out "Good day."
"My Christian name is Jamie,
He added with a grin,
"This putting lark looks easy,
So please may I join in"
"Of course," Laughed Teddy loudly,
"Come over here right now,
Then I will offer handy hints,
As only I know how!"

"Oh there’s no need," grinned
Jamie,
"I’ve done this once before,
So I’ll remember what to do,
Of that I am quite sure!"
In underneath a minute,
He’d joined our Furry Chum,
Who shook him by the paw and said,
"The best is yet to come!"
Things started off so nicely,
The small boy teed off first,
"I’m bound to win," he chortled,
"Because I’m well rehearsed!"
He picked up the giant putter,
And gave the ball a whack,
It landed right inside the hole,
And didn’t bounce right back!"
"Well done!" shrieked our Geronimo,
"That was a super shot,
And I am quite bowled over,
By the powers you have got!"
"Well hold on tight," smiled Jamie,
Who was working up a sweat,
"I think I should assure you,
The show’s not over yet!"
But this time when he hit the ball,
It hit a nearby tree,
He yelled "Oh goodness gracious,
What’s happening to me?"
"I’m usually on target,
When I play this silly game,
And I’m really devastated,
That today is not the same!"
"Oh don’t go on," Bear chuckled,
"You tried your very best,
Now let me take my turn because,
It’s time you had a rest!"
He retrieved the little ball and then,
He took a careful shot,
But when he scored a hole in one,
His small friend lost the plot!
His angry face contorted,
And he ran across the field,
"I really should have won the game,
It’s just not fair!" he squealed.
He grabbed hold of his putter,
Then twisted it in half
As Teddy watched him do this,
He gave a nervous laugh!
"Hey steady on!" he shouted,
"This is only just a game,
I know I took the winning shot,
But no one is to blame.
When you take part in super sports,
It pays to play it cool,
So give the putter back to me,
And don’t be such a fool!"
But Jamie didn’t listen,
He just threw it on the ground,
And snapped "You’ll have to take it
back,
As I won’t stick around"
In the twinkling of an eyelid,
He’d stormed off in a huff,
And our Hero smiled "Thank goodness,
I’m made of sterner stuff!"
"He seemed very, very normal,
But that lad was just a nutter,
Now I wonder what I’ll tell the boss,
About this blinking putter!"
THE END.
