Our furry friend Geronimo,

Was staying with his cousin,

And from the very outset,

They had good times by the dozen.

Pete was a giant Polar Bear,

Who lived in the north pole,

And when it came to partying,

He was the life and soul,

As soon as Teddy got there,

He gave a friendly grin,

And boomed “My ice cave’s cosy,

So you really should come in!”

“Do what?” asked Bear quite puzzled,

“All I can see is ice,

And so if you are teasing me,

That isn’t very nice.”

“Don’t fret,” smiled Pete so kindly,

“I wouldn’t be that cruel,

The last thing I would want to do,

Is treat you like a fool.

My home is underneath the ice,

So prying eyes can’t see,

For when you’re in a place like this.

So careful you must be!”

“Get on your paws,” he added,

Because I need a hand,

But as soon as we start digging,

I’m sure you’ll understand.”

Our Hero was still doubtful,

But as it was so cold,

He avoided asking questions,

And did as he was told.

In minutes they were digging snow,

And using all their strength,

“I’m getting rather tired now,”

Groaned little Bear at length.

But just as he was flagging,

A gangway came in sight,

“We’re nearly there!” he giggled,

“The future’s looking bright!”

“Just take my paw,” he added,

“We’ve got no time to waste,

I’m feeling very hungry,

And think we should make haste!”

They walked right down the gangway,

And into a huge cave,

Geronimo looked at it,

And the loudest gasp he gave!

“This is the most amazing place,”

He told Friend Pete with feeling,

“Although the walls are snowy white,

Bright chains hang from the ceiling!

“I really like your furniture,”

He added with a grin,

And don’t think it will take too long,

For me too settle in!”

“In that case,” laughed his Cousin,

“Feel free to take a seat,

Because I have a feeling,

That you’re in for quite a treat!”

“Oh really?” squealed the happy Bear,

“I like the sound of that,

I’ll sit down right away and then,

We’ll have a nice, long chat!”

Pete gave the loudest whistle,

And then clapped his paws,

He cried; “It’s time to celebrate,

I think we’ve got just cause!”

Geronimo then witnessed,

The most amazing sight,

Another Polar Bear came in,

And beamed with pure delight.

“Hello my dear,” she giggled,

Putting down a silver tray,

“I hope this special Christmas feast,

Will bring great joy your way!

In case you didn’t realise,

My friends call me Lynette,

Please hold on to your seat because,

You’ve not seen nothing yet!”

Looking happy and contented,

She quickly took her seat,

“Do tuck in,” she smiled kindly,

“There’s loads for you to eat!”

In no time whatsoever,

Our chum had cleared his plate,

“Oh thank you!” he sighed heavily,

“That fish pie was just great!”

They sat back in their seats again,

While all the food digested,

But then Pete hollered “Come in now,

Your presence is requested!”

The giant door burst open,

And in walked several elves,

Who were carrying hot porridge,

And singing to themselves!

"Oh do sing up!” urged Teddy,

“Your voices are so sweet,

I think some Christmas Carols,

Would make the day complete!”

The smallest elf put down the bowl,

Then bowed at little Bear,

And in the twinkling of an eye,

Sweet voices filled the air!

“That was really nice,” he whispered,

As the last note died away,

“But now I’m feeling tired,

After such a busy day.”

“We all are,” smiled his cousin,

“But there’s one more thing to do,

Our very final visitor,

Has gifts galore for you!”

He spun around three times and then,

There was a puff of smoke,

And Geronimo gasped; “Goodness,

This has to be a joke!”

Father Christmas stood before him,

With presents by the ton,

He boomed “I hope this season,

Will be a lot of fun!”

“This ice cave is amazing,

And I wish that I could stay,

But December’s very busy,

So I must be on my way!”

He disappeared in seconds,

And our Furry Friend yelled “Wow,

Today’s been unbelievable,

I’m quite exhausted now!”

It’s been fabulous,” He added,

“But one thing’s still not clear,

All those people were dead famous,

So how did they get in here?”

“It’s simple,” Pete explained to him,

“The tiny elves are neighbours,

And when they aren’t too busy,

They help us with our labours!”

“And as for father Christmas,

He pops in each December,

So we thought that we would give you,

An evening to remember!”

“You sure did that,” Bear giggled,

“This evening’s been so nice,

I really am enjoying,

This holiday on ice!”

THE END.
