Geronimo Meets Alex
the Alligator.
One year our Friend
Geronimo,
Went to the USA,
He visited new places,
Almost each and every day.
One bright and sunny
afternoon,
He walked down by the
river,
But suddenly he saw
something,
Which made him want to
shiver.
A giant alligator,
Popped up to say
"Hello"
"I've read about
these beasts!" quaked Bear,
"I think I'd better
go.
These monsters are
so dangerous,
With a truly vicious bite,
So if I stick around too
long,
The future won't be
bright!"
But as he turned to walk
away,
A voice began to groan,
"I'm just a useless
has been,
So don't leave me on my
own!
I used to be so scary,
But I didn't clean my
teeth,
Now sadly I have lost them
all,
Which causes me much
grief!"
"My Christian name is
Alex,"
He went on to explain,
"You're not in any
danger,
So please turn around
again!"
Our Furry Friend did as he
asked,
And saw that it was true,
The Creature was quite
harmless,
And he was toothless
too!"
He opened up his massive
mouth,
And then sobbed
"There you are,
If I wanted to attack you,
I wouldn't get too
far!"
Kindly Teddy started
laughing,
He smiled "It doesn't
matter,
I think you're cute and
cuddly,
And I'd love to stay and
natter."
"Oh yes, yes
yes," sobbed Alex,
"Everybody says that
now,
But I used to deafen
people,
By making such a row.
I was brave and I was
fearless,
And life felt really
happy,
Now I can't make a single
sound,
Not even when I'm
snappy!"
A big fat, tear rolled
down his cheek,
And he looked most upset,
Our Hero smiled "It's
not that bad,
"You'd make an ideal
pet!"
The alligator gave a
sniff,
"What good is
that?" he cried,
"I should be causing
havoc,
As I roam around
outside!"
Geronimo looked at him,
And smiled "I realise
that,
It can be so annoying,
When your hopes and dreams
fall flat.
I wish that I could give
you,
The peace of mind you
seek,
But I reckon you should
celebrate,
The fact that you're
unique!"
"When little ones
come up to you,
They will not back away,
They'll think you are
endearing,
And come running up to
play.
If I were you my prickly
friend,
Then I would not take
action,
And then, before you know
it,
You'll be a big
attraction."
Friend Alex fell quite
silent,
Then he giggled with
delight,
"You know what
mate," he answered,
"You're absolutely
right,
I might be slightly
toothless,
But it makes me quite
unique,
Now you've put that in
perspective,
The future's not so
bleak!"
"So I'll make a snap
decision,
To face life with a smile,
Because it's so much
better,
Than moping all the
while."
Our Furry Chum beamed at
him,
And then he yelled
"Hooray!"
I'm chuffed to little
pieces,
That good sense has won
the day!"
"Get out there to
your public,
Before you lose your
nerve,
For a bit of recognition,
Is what you most
deserve!"
The Alligator chuckled,
"Oh You're so
kind!" said he,
"But there is still
one important thing,
That you must promise
me!"
"What is it?"
groaned Bear heavily,
"You've got no time
to waste,
Your public's out there,
waiting,
So I think you should make
haste!"
"Don't rush me,"
grumbled Alex,
As all I want to say,
Is you really must
remember,
To brush your teeth each
day!"
"Don't worry,"
smiled Geronimo,
"I'll brush them day
and night,
And everyone will tell me,
That my teeth are pearly
white!"
THE END.
