Geronimo And The Dragon.
Geronimo the little Bear,
Just
couldn't get to sleep,
Although he'd had a nice, hot drink,
And
counted lots of sheep.
"Oh
curses!" thought the Teddy,
"This
really is a pain,
I
wonder if a late night stroll,
Will
send me off again!"
Clad in
his yellow dressing gown,
He
quickly left the house,
And
headed for the forest,
As
quiet as a mouse!
The
forest was so peaceful,
And
Bear couldn't hear a thing,
Except
perhaps, the tawny owls,
Who'd
started twittering!
But
after just a little while,
There
was a muffled cry,
"That's
very odd!" thought Teddy,
"I
mustn't walk on by!"
Aloud
he called; "Hello there!
Please
tell me why you're sad,
Then I
will try my hardest,
To stop
you feeling bad!"
"Oh go
away!" replied a voice,
"There's nothing you can do,
I'm
just a useless has been,
And now
I'm homeless too!"
Our
furry friend was not put off,
He got
down on his paws,
"I'd
like to help you out," he smiled,
And be
a friend of yours!"
He
peeped beneath the bushes,
And got
a big surprise,
Because
a purple dragon,
Was
right before his eyes!
The
dragon was unhappy,
And
wailed; "Once I was bold,
But
then I went and lost my roar,
Thanks
to a nasty cold!"

"How
awful!" sighed Geronimo,
"No
wonder you're upset,
But
what do your friends call you,
You
haven't told me yet!"
"I'm
Kieran," croaked the dragon,
"I used
to be so strong,
The
others were afraid of me,
Before
things went all wrong!"
A great
big tear rolled down his cheek,
And he
got quite distressed,
"Hey,
steady on!" cried little Bear,
"You're
making me depressed!"
Poor
Kieran took no notice,
He
sobbed; "I miss my roar,
I'll
never get it back again,
Of that
I am quite sure!"
Geronimo was thoughtful,
And
scratched his furry head,
A grin
soon spread across his face,
"I've
cracked it now!" he said!
The
Dragon was still puzzled,
But
Bear dragged him through the wood,
And
laughed; "Soon you'll be roaring,
Like a
healthy creature should!"
At last
they reached the toadstool,
Which
was very, very sweet,
"My
goodness me!" hissed Kieron,
"It
looks good enough to eat!"
Geronimo ignored him,
And led
him through the door,
He
called "Please will you help my chum?
His
throat is REALLY sore!"
In the
twinking of an eyelid,
A
little man appeared,
He wore
a scarlet pointed hat,
And had
a long, white beard.
"Hello," he smiled "I'm Percy,
Do sit
down straight away,
And I
will do my very best,
To cure
your Ills today."
The
Pixie looked down Kieron's throat,
And
muttered; "Yes indeed,
I think
a magic potion,
Is
exactly what you need."
Before
you could say "Fire,"
The
special drink was made,
It
contained three jars of honey,
And a
dash of lemonade ."
"Good
golly!" hissed the Dragon,
"I hope
that this will work,
If I
lose my roar forever,
I think
I'll go berserk!"
"Oh
don't be daft!" laughed Teddy,
"Just
drink up right away,
I'm
sure this magic potion,
Will
help to save the day!"
Friend
Kieron was still nervous,
But
took Bear's sound advice,
And as
he gulped the potion down,
He
found it tasted nice.
When
his mug was really empty,
He let
out a giant roar,
"It's
done the trick!" smiled Teddy,
As he
fell upon the floor!
The
Pixie laughed out loudly,
"It
sure has!" he replied,
"Oh
come on!" roared the dragon,
"I want
to go outside!"
"I'm
coming!" grinned Geronimo,
"Just
let me get up first,
Then we
can go into the wood,
And you
can do your worst!"
When
everyone was standing up,
They
thanked the little man,
"That's
quite all right," he told them,
"I just
do what I can."
They
left the pretty Toadstool,
And
walked into the wood,
"You
know," roared Kieron loudly,
!"I'm
feeling jolly good!"
"I bet
you are!" replied the Bear,
"But
now you're safe and sound,
I'm
feeling pretty tired,
So I'd
best be homeward bound!"
"Okay
then!" roared the Dragon,
"But
please come back again,
Because
I'm very grateful,
That
you helped to ease my pain."
Geronimo got back in bed,
And off
to sleep he went,
Because
he was exhausted,
From
the busy night he'd spent!
THE
END.
